N400 interview scheduled

My daughter (nov 2019 applicant) got scheduled for interview today and her wait time also jumped like described above, I’m ignoring it! My husband did his interview last month and did same day oath, which seems to be current practice here (SF), so I am pretty sure she’ll get the same.

I'm also ignoring it, seems like it's probably based somewhat on the numbers on the "Processing Times" site, so it's very ballpark and not a precise date at all. For those wondering how long it might take, best thing is it just keep checking in on VJ and seeing where others are as this is is the best indication in my experience of how slow or fast a field office is moving.

 

Same day oaths are great! I wish there was more transparency as to why some field offices are offering them and others aren't. Seems a bit random but I'm sure there's some reason for it, meh.

Well, speculation from my side  : here they used to do a couple of massive ones a month (I seem to recall there were something like 1300 new citizens at mine) and I think the only practical way they can get through that many people now with COVID restrictions in place is to do them daily, and it probably makes sense to do same day when possible to make it easier all round.

I think that’s the reason for it in Seattle too. Seattle gets over 4000 applications a month.  They used to do ceremonies twice a week with hundreds of people at once. I know some USCIS offices in the south are doing outdoor ceremonies because of COVID but the weather in Seattle is too unpredictable for that. I’m not too bothered about not having a ceremony. My mother can’t even enter the country, let alone attend a ceremony and my husband’s family are all out of state or hundreds of miles away in Spokane. Even my husband couldn’t attend right now because one of our dogs is close to death.
