N-400 No Decision Since Interview

I attended my citizenship interview back in September. I passed the test but a decision could not be made. The immigration officer told me that she was waiting for my complete file to be shipped to her office and handed me form N-652. It’s been more than 120 days now. I noted on the form N-652 she provided, it says that I can reach out to the officer about my case and attach a copy of the form. Is it worth sending a letter to my local immigration office to ask about the status of my case in hope that they will make a decision?

Yes, you can do that, but you may not get too much response.

 

I would recommend you contact your congress-person and senators as the next step.

Do you have any Criminal history or something on your record ? because it is very unusual to wait that long for N-400.  it is one of the fastest process in the whole immigration journey. it must be something you omitted or simply unaware of that probably raised concerns to the officer. you should just go ahead and request judicial review at the district court. but for that u might need to wait for a denial letter. hopefully you don't get to that. I gave them everything needed. I finally received a notification that my case was submitted for “quality review based on approval recommendation”. I think that’s good news.

I think that this is your actual problem. 👆

 

They cannot proceed until they have your file and it is all complete. Time to start contacting them, it's very likely one person is waiting on the file while another person assumes it has been sent. Neither one of them will look into it until someone else tells them to.

Could also be they lost your file, parts are missing or it's stored in a wrong location, regardless you need to start shaking the tree and see what falls down

I agree. I submitted a request and 10 days later they updated my case to say it was submitted for quality review based on approval. Now I have to wait for a supervisor to review and finalize my application. I applied in Feb 2020 and it’s quite a long process so far.

I hope that you had finished your naturalization process by now and became a USC.

 

I am in a similar position as you were  and I do have a question to ask you. How did you submitted a request?

Did you send a letter directly to the FIeld office addressed to the officer? or submitted an online request??

 

If so could you please tell me how you did it. So I could do the similar thing. I appreciate your help. Thank you!
