Hello again everyone,

I applied for AOS on March 3thd and obtained the EAD combo on the first day of September. I took biometrics twice (still do not the see the reason why), once in August 8th and then on November 9th. Now, does anybody know when I should receive the invitation letter for the last interview, more or less, according to my timeline?

Thank you :)

USCIS currently estimates that the I-485 for your local office (Chicago IL according to your profile) is 13.5 to 21.5 months.

Thank you.

Do you know if this timeline range is always accurate? Has it always been like this, even before the pandemic? I am asking because, when we first went to our lawyer back in December 2019,  we were told that on average for our case type, people had to wait about 8 months since filing to be summoned for the interview.

8 months seems very optimistic, especially for a busy local office. My AOS took 8 months in 2018, but that was pre-COVID at a very fast local office. The 13.5 to 21.5 months does not seem unusual to me, I have seen longer processing times for busy offices, even before COVID.

is this processing wait time for employment based AOS only?

What about family based cases? Is there a way to estimate? I am waiting for my parent's  AOS interview. They got their EAD back in Aug 2020.

Mine was not for employment. I am married with a US citizen.

But probably family based AOS are different from AOS for a spouse.

I have an update for everyone. My AoS interview has been scheduled for March 3rd. I sent the application on March 3rd, 2020 so it has been just 365 days (coincidence?).
