Hello,

curious if anyone who has an interview date in Dublin, ireland has heard anything regarding the level 5 lockdown? Curious if they’re canceling appointments again and closing or are able to continue on with interviews since this lockdown is allowing retail & gyms to stay open. I can’t seem to get through to them so any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I am also interested in this. Our case was received by the embassy in Dublin on the 18th December and we are wondering what will happen now with the lockdowns. On the website it says no interviews will be processed while in level 5 lockdown. The Dublin embassy website and the actual American website are horrifically contradictory at the best of times so who knows what’s going to happen 🤷‍♀️

It’s so difficult getting a straight answer! I’ve become so frustrated and jaded having to deal with the NVC and now the embassy who is almost impossible to get answers from or contact anyone.

Thinking that if they do close, it'll be from the first. As I'm sure you've seen now, their website and social media don't have anything on the new restrictions.

This waffling is preposterous, why not just keep us in level 4 or something? Keeping gyms and retail open amount to just that, doesn't it? Why tell us not to travel over the holidays and then reduce restrictions specifically to do that? I know that those of us waiting on the Embassy are such a small subset of the population, but this hurts everybody. I'm tired of waiting to continue waiting. 😫 /rant

I don’t understand it either! Exactly, how is it level 5 if retail and gyms can remain open? We really need to get back to the states and it’s like we’re not even being acknowledged. The embassy doesn’t seem to care nor does the Nvc. We’re just left hanging and constantly wondering and disappointed with no real answers. It’s awful, I feel you

I'm still waiting to hear from the embassy - hopefully, one of these days NVC will transfer my case :)

When were you DQed?

We are such a small subset of the population so I get why we are thrown by the wayside...immigration is a privilege that we are not entitled to. It's just really frustrating to think that without covid I'd very likely be home right now. That being said, everyone seems to be feeling these successive lockdowns, not just us Americans trying to get home. I don't know how much longer this can go on x_x

Judging from the activity we have here on visajourney, I feel we are just a handful of awaiting  applicants for the interview and yet its taking forever. I just checked our case, it still shows as 'At NVC' - DQd 10th/11th Nov. Wondering if it's June or what.

Also, just read the news https://www.rte.ie/news/2020/1230/1186997-hse-briefing-covid/ this isn't quite comforting  either.

Has anyone heard anything so far? I understand it's holiday season but we have been waiting since forever! what was considered as a 7-8 month process has now turned into a long journey. Still want to stay positive and hopeful!

I keep on checking here, where they still have the advisory up from when we went into Level 5 through the first of December. I also periodically take a look at their twitter here, no updates since Christmas.

Short of what Thewander is doing in actually reaching out, I think this is the best way to stay on top of embassy updates. I doubt that we will get anything until after the New Year though, if at all, since I imagine that they're all off on holiday.

Well, looks like we're going back into full lockdown. 😩

  • Level 5 will come into effect at midnight tonight, 30 December for all measures, with the exception of non-essential retail and gyms, leisure centres and swimming pools.  These businesses should close from close of business on 31 December.
  • Until 31 January

Enjoy your third(?) month off, friends. Woo...

So frustrating and annoying. Yet sports can continue! None of this makes sense. And here we sit, completely ignored, while the embassy gets more paid time off and couldn’t be bothered. I don’t understand why they can’t put up plexiglass as they do in shops like tesco and conduct interviews!
