Way to own the libs!

A motley crew of pro-Trump figures was in attendance, including conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and Trump’s disgraced former national security advisor Michael Flynn

Imploding MAGA World Turns to Civil War Fantasies, Secession After Supreme Court Disaster

MAGA world has gone into total meltdown after the U.S. Supreme Court dismissed a bizarre Trump-endorsed lawsuit on Friday seeking to overturn the results of the presidential election.

Many of the president’s staunchest supporters believed that the Supreme Court, with its Trump-appointed justices, would eventually come to the president’s rescue in his failing election fraud crusade.

But, with their hopes crushed, some of the wackiest sycophants took to Twitter and alt right-friendly app Parler to call for civil war or secession—all because their guy lost.

“If the Supreme Court can’t save our republic, then where is the military?” former Fox News pundits and unofficial Trump “advisers” Diamond & Silk tweeted Friday evening. “Trying to overthrow the Government by exploiting a Pandemic, thus implementing rules that break our election laws, is unconstitutional. If the DOJ and the FBI can’t do their jobs, then where is the military? This is a Coup!”

Allen West has lost it

Austin, TX, Release: December 11, 2020. For Immediate Release

Below is Chairman Allen West’s statement regarding the decision by the Supreme Court to dismiss Texas’ constitutionally legitimate and critical lawsuit.

“The Supreme Court, in tossing the Texas lawsuit that was joined by seventeen states and 106 US congressman, has decreed that a state can take unconstitutional actions and violate its own election law. Resulting in damaging effects on other states that abide by the law, while the guilty state suffers no consequences. This decision establishes a precedent that says states can violate the US constitution and not be held accountable. This decision will have far-reaching ramifications for the future of our constitutional republic. Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution.”

The Texas GOP will always stand for the Constitution and for the rule of law even while others don’t.

I don't  have that as a hope, not that I care about the parties but I care about the nation.

We need to decide what this country is going to look like and talks of succession, violence, antiscience and destroying institutions and norms is not a recipe for a successful nation.

I guess I'm somewhere in between you two. I don't think the Republican Party as it currently is constituted is doing much to expand its tent, but is doubling down on its base. Now that may make the base happy to be fed lots of red meat (and certain parts of the Democratic Party suffer from the same disease), but to many others who don't pledge allegiance to one party or the other, it's alienating and confusing. I think it's likely this strategy is going to come to an end, either by the party imploding or morphing into something more palatable (nicer that saying less crazy-seeming).

We need more than one party that is focused on governing rather than holding onto power for power's sake. Pwning the libs is not a long term strategy to govern a nation this large and this important. And we are stuck in a two party system like it or not. If the Republican Party can't refashion itself to appeal outside of its base, can't come up with a way to win that doesn't involve minority rule (through the Electoral College, gerrymandering, discouraging voting in any other way than in person), it's going to die.

I live in a state where one party has effectively disappeared, and I do not think we are well-served by having supermajorities of the party I'm a member of. Tension -- good, positive tension that comes from disagreement and discussion -- can be an engine for bold thinking and for ideas that push boundaries. Some states do this well. But having a national party that alienates many by apocalyptic talk and doubling down in the face of clear evidence to the contrary (like: masks work to reduce the risk of transmission, Trump's election lawsuits are going nowhere, there isn't widespread voting fraud) isn't good tension. It just makes the whole atmosphere tense.

I don't think it will tbh with you. I am more concerned about the Democrats because the Progressives are getting pretty pissed with Biden right now. Not to mention the black community after that phone call Biden had with black leaders

I am just waiting to see what 21/22 bring to politics and NC in general. We are due to get a new congressional district, and we have a majority Republican general assembly to draw those districts.

When someone starts talking about "it begins now",  secession, "this is a coup" and other apocalyptic terms, you have gone off on a deep end that does no one any good.

Well people want to keep saying that it is ok for censorship of stories and views you don't agree with then don't be surprised when people start to fight back however they can. What do you think has been happening these last few years when stories about Democrats are being censored and downplayed, Conservatives being de-platformed for no reason, people being beaten and killed in the streets with impunity by those on the Left?

He's done a lot of damage. Thankfully, he'll be gone and some of the damage can be reversed. The worst thing - him pulling the US out of the Paris agreement and dismantling regulations against pollution. He doesn't care what will happen to earth once he's dead. He only cares about his ego
