While working in Korea, I met my wife. That was in the fall of 2005. We dated, but while we were dating she was in the process of coming the U.S. She came here on a tourist visa, although she actually came to work. Her place of employment offered her an employment visa, but it was never realized. During the time were apart we stayed in contact, and we actually grew closer.

I moved back to the U.S. in the fall of 2006, and we were married. I am a U.S. citizen. By that time, she had overstayed her initial tourist visa.

We applied for an AOS Greencard and Work Permit in March 2007. She received her work permit a couple of days ago.

Today we had our interview. We decided not to rehearse answers about parents and addresses and such, as our marriage is legit. You know-we married because we love each other.

Well to start with, the interviewer starts looking her Passport stamps over. She had backpacked to 30-something countries before we met. He kept looking, but never really gave her a chance to explain. Instead, he just kept giving her skeptical looks. Then he asked some questions not related to her travels. I didn't know everything about her prior addresses, so the interviewer didn't like that.

The interviewer was extremely condescending, and gave smirks to numerous answers we gave. My wife became nervous and the interview really went downhill. My wife speaks English quite well, but under the situation her speaking wasn't so great. Although she answered a no to the question if she had met my dad, the interviewer thought she said yes. Then the interviewer asked me, and I said no. The interviewer said something like well you're saying she didn't meet your day and you're saying she didn't, which is it? By that point, even I was becoming flustered.

Well, on the bright side, we did produce a lot of documents on our marriage. We turned in phone, electric, and gas bills, along with a lease, bank statement, and credit card statement. We gave pictures from our time in Korea and in NYC.

At the end of the interview he said we would be notified in four to six weeks pending the results. Does this mean we failed? If so, will I have any other options?

Oh my. This has not been a good day. The way the interviewer treated us does not give me a good feeling about our chances. This shouldn't be difficult. I'm a citizen, and I married the woman I love. We were honest. I guess we should have paid an attorney and/or rehearsed our answers. Doesn't seem fair.

Well they didn't say it was no, so be patient and hopefully they will take into consideration all your papers.

I'm sure you're not the first couple who ends up getting stressed and giving weird answers under the pressure.

Be patient, keep faith and update us on your situation.

Boy do I understand you on THAT one! When the examiner found out I had been previously married to a foreigner (whom I did NOT sponsor on a visa, just AOS) she went back to OUR history and wanted to know how WE met and all that #######. :crying: I'm like geez lady, that was run through the mill at the K1 interview...read the notes. This is supposed to be about me and my current husband!! Of course I couldn't say that, I just thought it. I was so freaked out that I thought she asked me who took pain pills when she had actually asked who pays the bills.:lol:
