Hello:

I hear a lot about Casablanca and age gaps.  How many years difference would be considered a red flag?

thanks,

Angela

I agree with 10+ years being of some concern to the Casablanca consulate. With that said, there are other factors to consider as well, such as how much time you have spent in person together, how much evidence you are able to include in your initial visa petition, etc. I've seen both K-1 and CR1 age gaps be approved in Casablanca, some with ease and some with a few additional AP hurdles.

Forgive me for not being not being able to have your response included.  I don’t know how to do it.  It gives me great anxiety to hear this. My fiancé and I have an age gap of 13 years.  I’m the older one. We met towards the end of 2019. Travelled and met three times.  First meeting was 7 days and the last two were closer to 3+weeks each visit. Our travels are well documented.  We provided copies of our boarding passes and copies of our stamped passports. We also have a daughter now who looks just like him. She’s 6 months and we have documented our conversations in skype and WhatsApp since we have not been able to see each other. I am not sure what else we can do to prove the validity of our relationship. It’s a tough journey thus far.

Hopefully you can spend more time prior to the interview.  The consulate is more concerned about age, religion and whether his parents (mother) approve of you.

Time together is a big key in Casa.

The fact that you have met in person multiple times and have a child together is good. I know a lot of people on this forum will say that having a baby together isn't "proof that your relationship is legitimate", but I would say that of the couples I have seen go through Casablanca specifically with a child together, the child always seemed to benefit thier case.

It is our hope to meet in February to March in Morocco, But I fear bringing a baby to the country where their healthcare is lacking. He heath is my priority. His parents and extended family approve of me and is accepting of me. Although his parents practice the dominate faith, my fiancé isn’t a believer. Religion has never been a problem between us.

It sounds like you have a good "presentation" at the consulate.   Like I said if there is anyway to visit again and even be in country at the time of the interview it would be seen as a positive.   Even though you can not go with him to the interview, he can take your passport in to show you are there.

Thank you so much for this insight. We applied in December,2019 and have been waiting for our case to be moved to the embassy.  Like many, the struggle is real.  It is my hope that the embassy will begin processing.  What a great birthday gift to our baby if he is able to be physically here for her first birthday in April. Thank you again for your post.

My son started traveling the world with us (first wife) before age 1.  I wouldn't have had any issues taking him to Morocco.  Being up on vaccinations is key (and taking those records with you too).  Mexico, England, Italy and Egypt all by age 2.

It is our hope for us to be there with him and travel with him when he interviews. I am in the process of getting our baby’s passport for travel. I’ll be packing a lot of formula 😁😁😁.

K-1 visas are not currently being interviewed at the Casablanca consulate yet due to COVID restrictions. It's unclear as to when they will begin interviewing K-1 cases again. So unfortunately you have a bit of a frustrating wait ahead of you. The only thing worse than a slow moving case is a case that is seemingly stuck with no timeline to move forward. Hopefully they will begin processing K-1s again very soon.
