Hey VJ Member,

my wife misplaced her original birth certificate. We’re worried if Lagos embassy will accept the photocopy already submitted at nvc. If anyone has ideas how we can go about this, I’ll be highly appreciated.

They do not accept photocopies.  Get a new certified copy of any "missing" originals.

she can either go to where she got the previous one from there they will tell her what to do or she can go to the (NPC) National population commission with an affidavit

This is Correct. My husband name had to be translated; and his original birth certificate was burned in a fire. This is where he had to go and get a replacement.

Yeah she can go to the hospital where she was born but it won’t be the same serial number.

Yes, that is what I meant. Here is my husband's birth certificate.  We used it with Uscis and with the Nvc.

If the misplaced birth certificate is the NPC issued type, then she should go to NPC office with the photocopy of the misplaced certificate, the NPC staff will confirm the record on their system and ask if she wants attestation of birth or re-issue of the birth certificate.

She will be re-issue another birth certificate. Just go with money, photocopy of the misplaced birth certificate and 2 pasport photos (can't remember if it's 2 copies or more, just have sufficient copies) which is used for affidavit to claim you misplaced the original certificate, hence the need for reissuance.

*This is my personal experience*

NPC OFFICE SURULERE LAGOS.

Re-issue would be written on it.
