Hello friends,

We are getting ready to send in my husband's n-400.  I heard some rumors over the summer that fees were going to increase as of October 1, 2020.  Does anyone know if they have indeed increased?

For example, I heard that the fee for naturalization would increase from $725 to around $1100.

Thank you!

These were not rumors. The fee hikes were announced, published, and challenged in court.

A judge suspended the fee hike.

If there is an appeal (don’t know if there is one) and the appeal over turns the judge, then it isn’t clear what happens to petitions filed after the fee hikes were originally scheduled.  RFE, denial, or something else.

All you can do is pay the fees that are currently listed on the web site.

Nothing will happen. People pay the fees as currently listed as applicable, they will not be retroactively implemented regardless of the background legal fights. Whenever the fee changes (not all categories increase) take place, then they will become applicable to future petitions/applications from whatever date is listed.

Does Walmart call you up after the sale and inform you that the price is going up and to return to the store and pay again the difference?

YMMV
