Trump Records Shed New Light on Chinese Business Pursuits

President Trump and his allies have tried to paint the Democratic nominee, Joseph R. Biden Jr., as soft on China, in part by pointing to his son’s business dealings there.

Senate Republicans produced a report asserting, among other things, that Mr. Biden’s son Hunter “opened a bank account” with a Chinese businessman, part of what it said were his numerous connections to “foreign nationals and foreign governments across the globe.”

But Mr. Trump’s own business history is filled with overseas financial deals, and some have involved the Chinese state. He spent a decade unsuccessfully pursuing projects in China, operating an office there during his first run for president and forging a partnership with a major government-controlled company.

And it turns out that China is one of only three foreign nations — the others are Britain and Ireland — where Mr. Trump maintains a bank account, according to an analysis of the president’s tax records, which were obtained by The New York Times. The foreign accounts do not show up on Mr. Trump’s public financial disclosures, where he must list personal assets, because they are held under corporate names. The identities of the financial institutions are not clear

Their basis of comparison to Hunter and Joe's corruption is that private citizen Trump, all the way back in 2006, as a global businessman, "opened a bank account" with a *checks notes* Chinese bank and pursued *gasp* business deals there.. "unsuccessfully". What a scandal.

It is amazing how this could even be equated by that tabloid known as the NYTimes.  Was Trump benefitting from having a powerful politically connected father, or was he simply trying to pursue potential business opportunities?  Btw, I know a lot of expats that have worked in China, and they have at some point set up bank accounts there, but for some reason they did not have a father they needed to kick back to.

I haven't seen where the Biden family benefited from China connections while Biden was in office. Is there a law that was broken?

Depends on where you are looking.  I am sure they broke some laws, but I am also sure that the FBI/CIA would rather keep it to themselves in case Old Joe actually wins the election.

There is another thread with a ton of evidence along with collaboration that Joe was getting kickbacks.  The FBI and DNI have confirmed that Adam Schiff is lying as usual that this is not a Russian play, but beyond that, it is up to you to decide what you wish to believe or ignore.

Hunter didn't have any income from China until 2017, so what was the kickback for?

Not the timeline I read, he was unpaid on the board and didn't invest until 2017

 

It is interesting that Trump paid more taxes to the Chinese Communist government than to the US government in recent years.

So what you are saying is that President Trump followed applicable tax law in countries he did business in?  

 

Now specifically to China, yes, his pay there started in 2017 based on the emails, with 10% going to Joe probably as payback for laying the groundwork.  Corruption of a career politician is to be expected I guess.

I have no idea if Trump paid all of the taxes he was supposed to, based on his history, I doubt it. 

 

In 2017 Joe was not in office. What groundwork was laid?

Do you have any evidence that President Trump ever broke any country's tax laws?  You seem to be implying he has a history of this.

 

As to the Joe and Hunter saga, Hunter's business dealings with China started way before 2017.

David Cay Johnston in the book the making of Donald Trump documents his dodgy business dealings, connection to Mobsters, bankruptcy and his struggling to hold onto  his Casinos while he was insolvent, paying Pam Bondi's campaign while she was suing Tump University  and many many more.
