Hi Im just wondering if anyone can tell me if the London Consulate generally sends you a rejection notice, IF you are rejected, or is it a case of finding out when you get your passport back from the courier? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this.

I don't recall ever having seen a rejected K-1 out of London.  Is there a specific reason why you think this may happen?

What does your CEAC status say?  If the visa was issued, it will say so.

In 12 years, I have never known (on Visa Journey) a K1 to be rejected. You may have had a better answer at the interview had you taken the SAR that day. It’s what we tell people whose police report says “No live trace”.

As to the present situation if I had to guess, I think they are just returning your passport in case you need it. I think there is no decision yet and they don’t want to keep it any longer. A bit of housekeeping so to speak.

London is not issuing K1 visas at this time so you missed the boat due to not having the SAR before the shutdown and subsequent reopening for spouse visas only. When they start issuing K1s again, and have verified the charges on the cautions, they will let you know when they are ready for you to send your passport to get the visa inserted. You will contact the courier who will collect it from your house and deliver it to the embassy, then deliver it back to you with a visa. I don’t think there is a charge for that if you have already paid for home delivery service when you made the original courier arrangements.

That’s my best guess.

'Refused' doesn't necessarily mean 'denied' though.  I can't speak for sure to London's procedures, but at other consulates, the CEAC status of 'refused' is often a reflection of the administrative processing that is occurring.

But yes, the letter will specify whether they need more documents or time or whatever.

Your medical exam is certainly expired by now, so they can't issue your visa.  Wait for their instructions.

Interesting you say that never thought of that. Went I went to my interview they didn't have the results then either delayed by a doctors letter, so based on the ineligibility he told me about and the medical he gave me a form ticked with refused pending admin processing, told me not to worry too much. Guess I will find out Saturday when i pick up my passport, will let you guys know, thanks .
