What "DOS high priority category"?  I keep seeing this, but can you post a link?

Just because something is classified as high priority does not override local conditions as it relates to covid.   I'm quite sure based on the current situation,  the consulate probably has not repatriated employees back to the post.

YMMV

The consulate in Mumbai is prioritizing mission-critical cases.  Unfortunately, K1 cases are not mission-critical.  Here's what the embassy website says --

"The United States Embassy in New Delhi and Consulate in Mumbai remain closed for most routine immigrant visa services at this time.  We have resumed processing of spouses (IR-1/CR-1) and children (IR-2/CR-2) of U.S. citizens in chronological order of how they were received. In addition, we are providing emergency visa services to spouses and children who request expedited interviews through the NVC,  as well as other certain mission-critical cases, such as employment-based healthcare professionals and those at risk of aging out, as resources and local conditions allow."

Mumbai has been doing IR/CR interviews since September 1st. They have scheduled interviews for mid-Feb DQ as of now. However, no words on when they will start interviewing K1s. Hopefully, by November 1st they will resume K1 processing.

Thank you for the update. Hopefully next month we may hear something .

There is a good possibility as India loosening more restrictions after Oct-15, including upto 200 people for indoor gathering which basically allows Mumbai consulate to have twice the people they currently allow. One more thing I noticed with other embassies is that if the Travel alert is Level 3 or below, they have resumed K1s. India is currently at Level 4. Let's hope it will be reduced to Level 3 after Oct-15.

They have already started processing cr1/cr2 and also k1

They are first processing cr1/cr2 and also 221g on k1/ cr1/2 cause there is a backlog since Jan onwards . I am a k 1 petitioner and they requested second pcc and medical again with passport . once they have cleared the 221g and printing then they can make space for new interviews, visa processing and new 221g . Hold on tight!

don’t give up ... it’s just a meter of time

My last update was March 30,2020 before it closed

now it’s oct 23 update

I had logged into the USTravelDocs website yesterday as I do every once in a while. I saw Mumbai Consulate K1 interview dates starting 12/4. There were about 40 appointment slots available for two weeks following that date. I went in today to try and book and am now again seeing no K1 slots available and that I need to select a new biometric appointment date.

I wasn't sure if I could select a K1 interview given that my case is stuck at the NVC and hasn't been forwarded over to the consulate. Maybe I should have booked and seen what would happen.

@Greenbaumdo you have any insight into this? If I see appointment slots open up in the future, do I need to wait for my case to have been received by the consulate?

If the embassy doesn't have your case file typically you are locked out from scheduling an appointment. In the rare case you get past the gatekeeper and can schedule an appointment without your case file at the embassy and you attempt your interview date without a case file at the embassy they are going to turn you away. The case file must be at the embassy before you can schedule. That would have been a wasted appointment timeslot that someone who has a case file didn't get the chance to interview.

What you are seeing is those slots where taken, again I am using prior coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic knowledge, they are interviewing those who have their cases and are at the front of the line. Whereas you are still at NVC which puts you further down the line.

The fact that the embassy is interviewing K-1 is a day worth  .
