The first lady wanted people to give her a break about children being separated from their parents... Displaying a complete lack of empathy typical for the Trump family. She also doesn't care about Christmas decorations in the White House which, well, no one actually cares about.

Point of clarification... she was simply stating the fact that while her husband has received a lot of negative press over the kids separated from their parents at the border, it was actually begun under Obama's reign, and there wasn't NEARLY so much kerfuffle over it then.

What I am confused about is I thought there was a war on Christmas, but somehow it's okay if the First Lady says Christmas decorations are a total drag to have to do, yet Starbucks puts out a holiday cup that's plain red and everyone loses their minds. I can't help but wonder what would have happened if Hillary had said "I don't want to do this" when she was First Lady. Or Michelle Obama for that matter.

 

We do Christmas in this country, and part of the job of being the First Lady means having to decorate the White House. Being First Lady is a thankless job, imo, and I get not wanting to do any number of outmoded or sentimental tasks that go along with the job. I am not a big Christmas decorator even though I love Christmas (and am a non-believer!), and she has my sympathies. But it's unrealistic to think that she wouldn't get any pushback on this.

That's PART of what she said for sure.  But certainly not the gist of her complaint.

Well... I may be a little weird on this issue. I'm still scratching my head how this audio was released in the first place as I think it was a private convo with a friend.

 

I don't think that being First Lady means you have to decorate anything... at all. It's one of those gender stereotype things we seemingly expect of our FL, but the truth is I think that if she doesn't want to, then she doesn't and shouldn't have to. Personally I don't think she wants to be there at all, but it's within her power to not be there if she wants that too. Nonsense to whine about it. But her whining was a private convo with a friend, who sounded oh so sympathetic at the time.

Yeah, demonstrating zero concerns for the kids. As long as Obama supposedly did it, it's fine! Who cares about those kids? It's Obama's fault, so let's just give her a break and stop the harassment, her and her husband being annoyed is the true disgrace.

Of course not, she chose to marry someone without a moral code. It's just one more demonstration about how little empathy exists in that family.

It's a simplified "I'm outraged by someone being outraged by outrage" .. looks like the evangelizing conservatives have largely died off, so the left decided to progressively fill the gap no one asked to be filled. 

 

As usual, the "outrage" doesn't productively or functionally describe what's actually wrong and what/how to change, just invokes outrage as if people should just fall to their knees and placate whatever they want. Beyond the intellectual laziness of the outrage approach, as if people didn't tire of it from the aforementioned demographic, the left so reflexively use this on so many topics of discussion, all one can do is ignore or make fun of it. Melania complained about it. In the end, the kids clearly don't matter to the left, they never mattered. Getting one's way, that's all that matters here, because it plays out the same way virtually everywhere else.

Perhaps you can explain to us dear readers how Melania has anything to do with children in the illegal immigrant crossing the border crowd being housed in detention centers?  I mean, she obviously didn't BUILD the dentition centers, but is she somehow responsible for deciding which kids get locked up and which get sent back, and when?
