Yup, the I-944 is back on. And it sounds like they will be requiring it for anybody who filed when it was temporarily suspended due to the injunction (unless already adjudicated)...kinda what I expected them to do, honestly.

What a mess this is going to be as many folks did not send in the I-944!

You know this does not even seem fair or the right thing to do to folks! USCIS offered no guidance during the time of the temporary injunction, no guidance at all their website did not even address it now all of a sudden this!!! This is just awful!!!!! In fact the I-944 was not even on their website during that time frame!!!!

Fair was never a promise they made. 🤷‍♂️

I would expect either RFEs or being asked to bring it to the interview at this point. They won't be able to deny applications that filed when it wasn't required (and have it upheld).

Hopefully they do the interview route for most people...shortest delay IMO. Or if they let you submit it separately somehow so it's on file beforehand.

Actually, they gave misleading guidance before today's update: "Applicants and petitioners whose applications or petitions are postmarked on or after July 29, 2020, should not include the Form I-944..."

It was pretty clear from everything published around that time pertaining to the I-944 that it was only a temporary halt to the requirement.  Several sage folks here on VJ even offered advice for applicants to prepare the form in the interim, or at least be aware that it would soon be a requirement again.

Yes I was one of those folks to offer that advice, the I-944 has been on and off many times we expected it, but still it just does not seem right to do this to applicants!

What??? But the form is no longer found on the website (last time I checked) and the list USCIS mailed us doesn't include I-944. And we were about to mail everything today. Great.
