K1 packet stranded. What to do?

Hello everyone, my fiancée mailed our K1 petition to the Texas Service Center on 2nd  of Jan 2020.
Our packet was received on the 10th of Jan 2020.
I-129f was approved on the 18th of June 2020.

Since these chain of events, the only information we have from the USCIS is that they have sent our packet to the NVC, though the latter admit they still havent received our case.

I know things are not running as smoothly as before the lockdown in March but it still worries me that our packet might have been lost along the way. It will nearly be 3 months since the dossier left USCIS(thing which would usually take 2 weeks).

My fiancée has emailed USCIS and called NVC. Both have given generic answers.

Grateful if anyone could enlighten us.

Don't worry... With covid things are messed up... It's not possible that they lose both (paper and electronic)... Things are just taking more time to process.

Just a minor note - since it was processed correctly, it's clear that she mailed it to the Dallas Lockbox, not the Texas Service Center, as these are not the same thing, and the Texas Service Center has not had anything to do with K-1s since at least 2017. The Dallas/Lewisville lockbox does the initial intake, but all K-1s are initially processed in California, and only a tiny number of cases (usually involving waivers and/or criminal records) get transferred to Vermont.

But as the previous poster notes, pretty much all K-1 petitions that didn't get to the embassy/consulate by March get "stuck" at NVC when they're approved these days. As consulates and embassies resume regular visa processing, they'll start forwarding them again.

Hello again, We just wished to at least get a confirmation from the NVC that they have received. So that our minds could be at peace and eventually carry on with the creation of the file at NVC level. Any advice?

I was in the same situation last year. It took FIVE MONTHS for the NVC to receive the case...I remember I was calling them 2x a week if not more often...the waiting is superfrustrating! Try to stay positive and not worry, I know it's hard. This whole process is.

Hang in there and good luck!

This process has worked for many, many years. Most files are sent on to the next "station" for processing with little or no problems. Yours, like everyone else's is well cared for. Learn to not worry about where things are. USCIS, NVC and your embassy have processes that have worked for years to adjudicate a petition. Yours will be fine.

Can I share somethings with you that I learned long ago about this process?

    • "the man with the gold makes the rules"
    • it will take as long as it will take
    • no one with any certainty can tell you when some process will be completed
    • Your sense of urgency will never be equaled to what USCIS, NVC or your embassy demonstrates
    • Your journey is not going to mirror someone else's experience - yours and theirs are not the same
    • They only promised you a YES or NO answer. Never an exact time that their decision would be completed
    • Lowering your expectations will make you a much more relaxed individual

Good luck on your journey
