Hello members,

 

I just submitted the K1 visa application on 8/3/2020 this Monday.  I haven't seen my fiancee in Mexico for several months now because of the pandemic.  My question is:

 

1.  Can I (US citizen) travel to Mexico now to visit her?  Do I need to apply a Mexican tourist visa?  Does Mexico enforce any 2 week mandatory quarantine?  What's your recent travel experience to Mexico?

 

2.  Is it a good idea for my Mexican fiancee to travel to the US to visit me using her B2 tourist visa while waiting for her K1 visa application?  Any Mexican member here traveling to the US recently?

You can still fly into Mexico without any issues.  If you fly in your airfare includes the ¨tourist visa¨

Her flying in is still fine.  The land border is still closed for tourism northbound.  Southbound just depends on where you are crossing.

 

 

I still fly or land cross monthly but I also have a Mexican green card.  Haven´t had any issues.  We went to Mexicali for lunch a few weeks ago.

November 6th, 2018 State ID Card Received, Applied for Global Entry - Feb 8,2019 Approved.

July 14, 2020 Removal of Conditions submitted by mail  July 12, 2021 Biometrics Completed

August 6, 2021 N-400 submitted by mail

September 7, 2021 I-751 Interview, Sept 8 Approved and Card Being Produced

October 21, 2021 N-400 Biometrics Completed  

November 30,2021  Interview, Approval and Oath

December 10, 2021 US Passport Issued

August 12, 2022 PHL Dual Nationality Re-established & Passport Approved 

April 6,2023 Legally Separated - Oh well

Depends where you are.  For example, the land crossing at Nuevo Progreso (south of Weslaco, TX) is open in both directions.  Call CBP at your intended port to ask how they're handling things and how they've heard that the Mexicans are handling things when you cross and seek to return.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

August 7, 2022: Wife filed N-400 Online under 5 year rule.

November 10, 2022: Received "Interview is scheduled" letter.

December 12, 2022:  Received email from Dallas office informing me (spouse) to be there for combo interview.

December 14, 2022: Combo Interview for I-751 and N-400 Conducted.

January 26, 2023: Wife's Oath Ceremony completed at the Plano Event Center, Plano, Texas!!!😁

February 6, 2023: Wife's Passport Application submitted in Dallas, Texas.

March 21, 2023:   Wife's Passport Delivered!!!!

May 15, 2023 (about):  Naturalization Certificate returned from Passport agency!!

 

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Definitely flying.  Should even be nonstop flights, I presume.

Accordingly, call the CBP port at (IAD? BWI? DCA?) to ask their protocols.

Have your lady call the Mexico City authorities to learn the same.

My husband (USC) just visited for 3 weeks arriving mid July and left a few days ago without issues. No need to quarantine. He was questioned why he was traveling though and I was going to have a procedure done so he said that.

I-130 NOA1: 2019/03/21

I-130 NOA2: 2019/09/17

NVC DQ: 2020/01/21

Visa Approved: 2021/07/01

I flew to Queretaro a week ago without any issue.  No different than any other trip other than they are screening everyone, asking you to fill out a questionnaire about CoVid, and they are taking temperatures.  This is at the QRO Airport, so I don't know about MEX.  No quarantine required.   No issue returning to the US.  Go see your woman....enjoy.
