Hey all it's been a bit since I last added to the convo. I'm curious about extending the validity of the petition. Some unfavorable things have arisen for my fiancé and I, and we don't think we'll be able to get everything prepared in 3 months. Our approval date was August 6, 2020 and it's almost November. How do I go about asking for an extension? Right now there are no updates since September 15 when the NVC got a hold of my petition.

If you are referencing your NOA2 expiration date, then consider this.

A fiancé visa must be issued within four months from the date of approval of the fiancé petition by USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services). If your appointment is later then the validity date, bring a signed and dated letter from your U.S. fiancé(e) stating that you both remain legally free to marry and that you intend to get married within 90 days of your arrival. E-mail or copies are acceptable.

9 FAM 41.81 N6.2 Validity of a K-1 Petition
(CT:VISA-2165; 08-21-2014)

An approved K-1 visa petition is valid for a period of four months from the date of USCIS action and may be revalidated by the consular officer any number of times for additional periods of four months from the date of revalidation, provided the officer concludes that the petitioner and the beneficiary remain legally free to marry and continue to intend to marry each other within 90 days after the beneficiary's admission into the United States. You also, should email the embassy and list the subject of your inquiry as NOA2 expiration as it will get their attention. Good luck and stay engaged.

Thanks Greenbaum.  They have not sent the packet yet as the consulate is still closed in Brazil. Should I still email the consulate or the NVC

Hello Greenbaum, do you have a P3 for Mexico or a link to it?  Thanks in advance.

I'll trade you for the P3 letter if you will complete your timeline and profile. instructions are at the end of the P3 suff.

P3 Letter

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cBWgGJr4a5ay3b4OV28_dC3pgf63ZUr-/view?usp=sharing

Once you get your approval (NOA2 text message or email), you should also check in with your country's sub-forum to get a better understanding of the process for the Embassy that you will be interviewing with, and to get direct answers from those who have completed the steps you are about to at the US Embassy - Juarez Mexico.

Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/96-mexico-latin-south-america/

Get the Juarez K1 Embassy instructions at http://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/K1/CDJ - Ciudad Juarez.pdf (Spanish) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cBWgGJr4a5ay3b4OV28_dC3pgf63ZUr-/view?usp=sharing (English) as this is your bible needed to complete and receive your visa. The required documents are included and use this website as a checklist. Once you have completed or gathered the required documents, you'll be ready for your interview.

Finally, READ the pages on the US Embassy website for your country so that you are up to speed.

 http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/

https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-Mx/iv

One last place to check for information would be the VJ Wiki found here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AllPages

This is an unbelievably detailed and well thought out map to find many of the different locations you will need to visit for your visa. I would like to give credit to the author Stfiii at https://www.visajourney.com/profile/210028-stfiii/

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

We need a little housekeeping on your end. Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Country and Visa Type: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RyJiLo_7WTmqvkzXXqLuOlVHm9oyhAES/view?usp=sharing

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

Congratulations!

Check over the visa to be sure there isn't any spelling errors. If there is contact the Embassy for further instructions. Keep the "do not open" pouch in the plastic and stowed away in her carryon luggage. Luggage does get lost and without the "do not open" packet it will be a difficult problem for her at immigration once she arrives at her POE.
