Mr Paul Novak

Director

Vermont Service Center

USCIS

Dear Mr Novak,

As a customer of your service center I have become aware of some issues that relate to the processing of applications of K-1 Visa's at the Vermont Service Center so I direct my inquiry to you as it's director. As I understand your policies as stated in the USCIS website your service center is processing applications in the order they are recieved within a reasonable time frame. The understanding being that as much as days or 2 weeks may be out of order. With this assurrance by your service center that the system is fair to all you ask us as petitioners to wait our turn patiently. With the recent increase in applications and the apparent change in priorities that work visas are taking over family visas* the issuance of K1 visas have come at a slower and slower rate of adjudication. It appears that knowing this increase in applications for June, July, August and September should of produced a sense of urgency within the Vermont Service Center to work on the hiring of new personel, training and streamlining of procedures over these summer months but instead the work appeared to come to a slow crawl until recently. I am a member of an internet K1 visa website that tracks such issues and it is very clear to us that something is terribly wrong. Recently people who were not military or cuban expedites were processed in 30 to 45 days, clearly out of order, which is a breech of your policy and our trust that we are being treated fairly. The ombudsman has been contacted and we have recieved emails stating that these were processed out of order for training purposes.

Interesting answer but for those of us now waiting almost 6 months for adjudication not good enough. As your customer and a U.S. citizen I am profoundly interested in understanding how the USCIS and your service center is working to clear your backlog and fix the inaccurracies and injustices of this process and bring your customers confidences that you state is your main goal for this agency to a fair acceptable level.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this matter

Thanks babybluesusie!!!! I hope the same for you :D

A good friend of mine from CT got married in Albania last year! Her husband is albanian too! The K1 process was really fast for them!! Come on VSC!!!

yea those albanian boys, they're so suave

i hope this process speeds up for all of us once we get to the embassy stage!!!!!!!

im coming up on 5 months reallllll fast...i was originally hoping to have my interview date by now, nevermind an NOA2!!!!!!!!!

oh lord lets freakin move it VSC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and mirla, speak you mind sister...'free your mind, and the rest will follow' ;)

Hahaha! Suave??? Is that albanian? I guess it's the same in spanish....There some words in common I think...Do you speak albanian? It is kinda hard to write but for people who speak spanish it is not very hard to pronunce.Pronunciations are similar and they pronounce the "R" too...hehehe...Is your fiance from Albania or another city? My friend speaks albanian perfect, actually I think she was born in Kosovo and then moved to the states. I think her now husband is from Kosovo too. She taught me a few words but I don't remember anything! Hahahaha!

Tung!

Hey everyone - I finally got the RFE!!!! And its simple - just need the complete final divorce decree....I can get it tomorrow as I am going to send them a certified copy just in case....I hope that everyone still waiting will hear some news soon!! ~Melinda

Awesome!!!! Send it as fast as you can!!!! I still haven't got any notifications or updates on the website!!!!!! :crying:

Thanks!! I am sending it tomorrow...certified copy to be sure.....hope u hear some news soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't send in my fiance's final divorce decree with my petition, but I did send mine. I haven't heard anything from VSC yet, but maybe I should expect a RFE for this? Can I send it now since I have it and not wait for the RFE? :crying:

Better to just wait and see if you get an RFE. If you send it now, chances of it getting to your file are slim to none.

Ok, thanks. I am just getting nervous that we haven't heard anything and all these people after me are getting approvals. Just starting to freak a little.

Ok Im starting to get very upset, worried, frustrated here. Many others after us have now been approved into mid JULY..a MONTH after our noa1!!!!!!!!!!! Many mid Junes are still unapproved..whats up with THAT? Are they just doing the "easy" ones? Or is just a FEW adjudicators working hard? Or are they just looking for ways to stay in service levels...?? Never mind that some of us have to wait even from MAY. What gives? How hard is it to work a case...and send out an noa2, rfe or give SOME sort of information?? Im getting soooooooooo frustrated with this entire process.

...it seems to me that the same thing is happening at VSC as is happening at CSC: the approvals spread out over a six to eight week period (of NOA1 dates, I mean)... so at the moment the approvals are coming a bit from second half of May, any time in June, and first half of July, and if you're pretty much anywhere in that period you could get lucky :)

so I agree with Bill, that they won't ALL be approved in that time period unless things speed up markedly, but I also think thejoz has reason to be cautiously optimistic ;)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

 Lora - Great letter! You have just the knack for words I tell ya! VSC needs to get moving and filing a formal complaint I think will help everyone.

My Fiance has a theory about all the movement lately that I thought I'd throw out and see what you guys think... He thinks that anyone applying before the fee hike they are going to be processed in some manner (we hope for all an NOA2) before the first of the year. Making January 1st the start of all the new fee applicants, sort of a clean slate you would say. Thoughts?:no:

Hoping all of you hear good news soon!

I didn't send in my fiance's final divorce decree with my petition, but I did send mine. I haven't heard anything from VSC yet, but maybe I should expect a RFE for this? Can I send it now since I have it and not wait for the RFE? :crying:

I would be surprised if you don't get an RFE. The instructions on the I-129f states that if you or your fiance were married before, give copies of documents showing that each prior marriage was legally terminated. Get a certified copy of it now so you are prepared to respond immediately.

Sending it now would be fruitless. Anyone who has ever attempted to send docs without the RFE has been unsuccessful in getting the docs to meet their case file at the service center.

I understand SOME may be approved AFTER me..but to go a full MONTH ahead?? Come on...we all KNOW that cant be.AND the ones approved in 30-45 days? Im HAPPY FOR THEM..but NOT happy with USCIS. Training purposes?? What...my file isn't "good enough" for training purposes? IF they want to train..take the next in line. Don't skip 2-3 MONTHS ahead.....

SERIOUSLY!! I mean, why is that so hard? Why does anything else make sense?

Whoever made the decision to do things differently, I hope they get food poisoning tomorrow.

Harsh...but soooo...hmmm...heheheeh :whistle::devil:

Im just starting to wonder WHY....My SO is freaking out...IM freaking out...and we just want a SIMPLE answer..(yes preferably). I just think that with lack of ANSWERS as to what is going on with our petitions, combined with the stalling over the last few months..now out of date approvals...LLike I said..Im truely happy for those approved...but to be honest...Im getting a bit selfish...everytime I see one approved who filed more than a week after me..my first though is GREAT...Good for them...my second thought is...ok..what about MINE?
