from the time of my 1st application till visa approved was 6 years

and married 5 by the time he got the visa

so,  how?

you forget the immigration process (unless you need to talk about an RFE or something that has to be done)

and you try to keep the romance in the relationship

you talk about everything / get to understand each other and both your needs,  likes and dislikes

know about what you will do (study or work) after the immigrant comes to the USA

this is a time for dating and not living together so keep this romance going and don't take any frustrations out on each other

just be "in love"

Things that need to be understood are some of the following:

immigrant usually needs driving license,  health care insurance so discuss this and make sure the immigrant knows costs of living here

Example:  Adil has insurance but $1500 yearly max for dental and he is shocked over dental costs like the $2900 for a root canal and crown and his part would have been $695 taking most of his $1500 for the year.

I’m not coping well. I really miss my husband. I haven’t seen him since March 3rd 2020

Unfortunately, separation is a normal part of the spousal visa process.  My wife and I were separated for 13 months during our journey.  We talked via video conferencing 2 times a day.....almost every day.  That helped.

Immigration is hard.

My take on things: Remembering that nothing is permanent/forever

When my now husband and I were going through the process, we went  15 months without a visit (long story with jobs and other shenanigans).

It was horrible but We just kept in mind - it is temporary. Short term pain for a Lifetime together

Also, we did a lot of video calls. just be on video while the other goes about their business so it makes them/you feel like you're present. I used to have my husband on video as am doing laundry, as he was doing homework, etc.

This too shall pass. Hang in there!

Lol, March? That's not long by immigration standards.

I know they may be a poor substitute however video calling, WhatsApp etc all help to make it much better than back in the day. Stay strong and positive, it will all come together sooner rather than later.

Just another random guy from the internet with an opinion, although usually backed by data!

As at now, I don't know any clear cut criteria set by the Ghanaian gov't which when met will result in opening the borders. Probably after the voter registration is over or the virus spread is reduced to its barest minimum.
