It lines up with the fact that in September the embassy issued over 250 DV VISAs, so they are operating.  Let's hope they start cranking out family VISAs this fast also.

I know of someone who had an interview in March but the shut down happened before they shipped her visa. Since it expired they have been told to repeat the medical so they can be re issued with a visa. So that’s true that they have started re scheduling canceled appointments due to covid. Some good news at last.

Good news indeed. Let's keep hope alive, we'll soon be reunited with our loved ones. This too shall pass.

There's conflicting info, they're processing IR/CR cases but on emailing them I get different information, or is it dependent on the Customer representative responding to the mail?

I got the same exact response from the same customer rep 8 on October 23rd. Maybe it depends on who responds. This is the representative’s reply’s template to all emails.

  • 06/26/2019 - I-130 priority date
  • 01/08/2020 - I-130 approved
  • 04/02/2020 - DQ (Documentarily Qualified )
  • 07/07/2021 - Interview in Nairobi Kenya (approved)

I asked for an expedite with the reason being the financial hardship of maintaining 2 houses for so long.  I was denied, but got a somewhat cryptic message back.  Not sure what they mean by "We will schedule a visa interview appointment":

Dear Sir/Madam:

Thank you for your patience. We sent your request to the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi,  Kenya. However, they cannot expedite this case. To be fair to all applicants, the Department of State schedules immigrant visa interviews in the order that the cases complete processing at the NVC.

We will continue to work with you on this case. We will schedule a visa interview appointment.

To learn more about NVC processing, please visit: http://nvc.state.gov / for English or http://nvc.state.gov/espanol  for Spanish.

Getting an expedite from the Nairobi Embassy is an extreme sport. They are saying that your case will follow normal processing.

Yeah it seems that way.....

The most frustrating thing about all of this is the lack of information.  There seems to be mixed messages as to if they are even doing interviews.  I suspect they are.

In May like you. I believe the embassy isn't functioning because of COVID and Trumps travel ban which ends in January. I'm thus waiting for January. All the best!

Has nothing to do with Trump, and everything to do with COVID
