Submitting Required Documents before Interview (merged)

I have submitted my DS-260 for my husband to move to the US. We are now at the process of submitting the required documents. We have PDFs of everything, but his birth certificate is in black and white, and it might be a couple months before he can get his physical one back. Would it be an issue if we submit his birth certificate in black and white now, and just bring the original whenever the interview i scheduled?

I would send the copy of what you have.  Worst case scenario is that they reject it.....and require a new copy.

You are fine; it doesn't need to be in color..

Do you know how long it typically takes for the documents to be accepted or rejected?

Anywhere from a couple of days to the full 10weeks plus quoted on the website

I am submitting documents for my Russian husband after we completed the DS-260. One of the requirements for him is to provide his Internal Passport. This would of course go under Additional Documents. However, I am not sure which category to select for it. It is usually referred to as a passport, but it is officially an ID, and on the Department of State website, Internal Passport is under the category of ID, which is not an option when submitting the documents. The only possible options I see are "Passport Biographic Page" or "Other." 

 

I am afraid of choosing the wrong one though. Can anyone offer some insight? Also, if I just add the internal passport twice, one under the Passport Biographic Page category and one under Other, would that make it more likely to be rejected?
