Has anyone with July approval heard anything from the NVC?  I just called them (my NOA2 was July 14th) and they said that their records show they have not received anything from USCIS yet... I called USCIS and their notes for my case say that notice of approval has been sent back in July (the person I was talking to did not know if that meant sent to the NVC or just to me).  Anyways, I am wondering if anyone else has called and gotten that reply from NVC?  It seems to me they might have received the notice from USCIS in the mail but haven't processed it yet.  The only thing that is confusing is their reply, that they haven't received the notice from USCIS yet, which makes me think USCIS has not sent it or it was lost in the mail.

Hey i just called NVC they said they are working on cases from August 4th so that means yours should be completed i called and they said that mine is awaiting data entry but they received my petition at the nvc august 14th

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll have to see what my options are.  Looks like my problem is with USCIS.  They either didn't send anything or it was lost in the mail.

If you haven't already done so, get a copy of the PDF from the first post of this thread. You'll find the answer to your dilemma contained within. Simply put, it takes 30-40 days from NOA2/USCIS to the NVC and then another 5-10 business days before a case number is available. "your mileage may vary" As I see it, you're too early to be concerned as we just past the 30-day mark from your NOA2.

@fed614 How were you able to call? What number did you use? I got a canned voice message on both lines and then it disconnected. I sent an email to them inquiring about my invoice number and haven’t heard anything back.

thoughts @greenbaum? I called at 10:15 in the morning MST this morning

I used the regular nvc number (603) 334-0700 and called at 8pm.  the email takes forever but you still need to send an email lol to get the email version of the letter since the letter takes months.

@Greenbaum do you know if the k1 visa is a non-immigrant visa or immigrant visa when you enter the ais.usvisa website?

Short answer: "immigrant visa".

Long answer:

As a K1, when checking your case online at CEAC.state.gov you have to select "immigrant visa" as it is treated like as such even though it is a "non-immigrant visa".

Technically the K-1 is a non-immigrant visa but it is treated like an immigrant visa because of the AOS. It is kind of a ba$tard. Non-immigrant treated like an immigrant. Other non-immigrant visas do not usually end up with green cards!  The K-1 on its own is a single entry, short time limit visa that expires 90 days after POE. You are a non-immigrant (90 days limit) with immigrant intentions (GC). That is why it is a non-immigrant visa treated like an immigrant visa.

Start by downloading the PDF from the first page first post of this thread. Everything is discussed, what steps to be taken and who what and where to contact for information. Phone number too.

If you go back and begin reading the thread you be able to get up to speed where everyone else is. By doing so you learn from others. Just saying.

No it doesn't need to be ready to pay your fee, but you'll find after payment you will not have access till the embassy receives your case and there is a schedule to choose a date from.

Can I set up my account before I get the “welcome letter”? So far I have nothing in the mail or email but NVC emailed me back with the case and invoice number. Do I need to request this welcome letter via email? I’ve heard of some people never getting a welcome letter. Is that common? Thanks
