Nothing has been done yet, it is all rumors and tweets until the executive order is put into effect, but there is rumors of work-based based visas being suspended ( With exceptions of course). Tourist visas are still safe, but getting one of those is going to be a fun time I'm sure once the embassies reopen. the backlog alone will probably extend tourist visa processing out to 3-4 months. Used to be file your DS-160, get an interview 7-10 days later in most cases, now I would expect months to interview for a tourist Visa, unless you already have it in your passport.

Here on a K1? Need married and a Certificate in hand within a few hours? I'm here to help. Come to Vegas and I'll marry you Vegas style!!   Visa Journey members are always FREE for my services. I know the costs involved in this whole game of immigration, and if I can save you some money I will!

And to add to the backlog, some embassies have already announced they’ll be giving student visas priority when they reopen for routine issuance - they’re usually in full seasonal swing ahead of August college starts by now.

So he’s not likely to come here this year even if they open?

How do you extrapolate from trying to get all the student visas done by August to no other visas are issued all year?

I worded it poorly. I just meant with the backlog, will it be likely at all for him to get an appointment on time by the end of the year.

I don’t know how you expect anyone here to possibly know how many people will be applying for what type of visas at his consulate and where in the queue he will end up being. All he can do is keep an eye on the consulate website and book an appointment as soon as they are open for that. Has he already done his DS160 and has everything ready to go to push the button on an appointment when he’s able? Has he been checking the consulate website for udates?

I don’t expect anyone to know. I do appreciate the responses though. Was just looking for opinions. He hasn’t filled out the app yet but we check the website regularly. Almost all restrictions have been lifted so we hope it’ll be open soon. Fingers crossed 🤞 thanks for the help!

B2 visas are not under any ban...but they are considered routine at the embassies... Of course there will be backlogs and embassies might decide to prioritize other visas... Giving whas happening in the world now obtaining any visa is an uphill task... Good luck

Are we referring to your husband? If so, I would get the application in ASAP. When the embassies re-open they will process those already “in the system” first.

Spouses of USCs are currently exempt from the coronavirus restrictions from the Schengen states and UK. If such health-based restrictions are placed on his country, you want to be ahead of the game.
