I read this in a forward email. It kind of puts our wait into perspective. There are hundreds of thousands of troops overseas right now serving for our right to have all the luxuries we have. They are separated from their families for 14 months at a time...and they're not even sure if they're going to see their families again. And they do it for us. I have a couple of friends who have spent long periods of time away from their families in Iraq and Afghanistan...periods of time much much longer than we have to wait - TRUE HEROES IF YOU ASK ME!!! I am just as anxious as everyone else and yes, I think it sucks that the married couples are put on hold so that the fiances can be approved...but reading this may help some of us March filers to realize that there's only a few months left and that we really don't have it that bad. Oh yeah, and thank you to any of you who have served in the military!

PS - It was obviously directed toward a younger crowd, but the point is still made very well.

You stay up for 16 hours.

He stays up for days on end.

You take a warm shower to help you wake up.

He goes days or weeks without running water.

You complain of a "headache", and call in sick.

He gets shot at as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.

You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends.

He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.

You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket.

He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.

You talk trash about your "buddies" that aren't with you.

He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.

You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls.

He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.

You complain about how hot it is.

He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.

You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong.

He doesn't get to eat today.

Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes.

He wears the same things for weeks, but makes sure his weapons are clean.

You go to the mall and get your hair redone.

He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.

You're angry because your class ran 5 minutes over.

He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.

You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight.

He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.

You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday.

He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.

You roll your eyes as a baby cries.

He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.

You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything.

He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.

You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him.

He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.

You see only what the media wants you to see.

He sees the broken bodies lying around him.

You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't.

He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.

You stay at home and watch TV.

He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.

You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable.

He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.

Thank you Erika's husband for reminding us that the wait could be an awful lot worse. Think of all of our National Guard troops that have been deployed with spouses, children and their jobs waiting for a lot longer than we have.

what exactly do they check before they issue the noa2 for the 129? Ive heard that they only check the documents (certificate of marriage, nbi etc...) when it gets to the manila embassy? So is the issuing of the noa2 basically just a signal that you filled the form out correctly? Does it ever happen that you get a noa1 on ur 129 but when its time for the noa2 it gets denied then, or if u get noa1 its a pretty sure shot youre going to get the noa2?

Just trying to learn about the process, and what happens along the way. Knowledge is power.

God Bless

Irene, you should have sent the same documents with the I-129f as you did with the I-130. Such as the G-325, copies of your marriage cert.,evidence, etc. Receiving the NOA 1 means that you didn't have something obvious missing, like missing the form and it has been entered in their database for processing. Receiving the NOA 2 means that it has been inspected and approved with all the requirements met to issue a NOA 2. The standards are the same for those petitions and they should have been treated as two separate petitions. You've waited a long time already and if they send you a RFE ( request for evidence ) it would mean that it would put you back 2 or 3 weeks not 2 or 3 months.

yes i sent all of the documents with my petition. i was just wondering how likely it is if u get a noa1 that you will also get the noa2. i dont see any reason for them to send me an rfe cuz i sent all of the documents, the mc, the pictures, all of my western union receipts, passports copy etc... its just been a long time and im wondering could they deny me a noa2 even though they gave me the noa1

lol rambling like an idiot i know.;

Hey, everything will work out just fine Irene. You're getting close to the 180 day mark and I wouldn't let it go much longer than that without an e mail to your congressman, etc. to have them review your case and try and get some answers.
