Sooooo, question....will the online status change to approved? The reason I ask is because the status was updated with this:

April 13, 2021 We recommended that your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, be approved. Your case was submitted for quality review.

then maybe 15 mins. later it updated to this:

April 13, 2021 Oath Ceremony Will Be Scheduled

So I'm not sure now. Does it mean that today would be the approval date then or no? I'm confused, and maybe overthinking it 🤔

Congrats!! The status "In line for oath" is the only approval update you get online, so the statuses you saw were perfectly correct.

Also, book a passport appointment asap if it's hard to get one in your part of the country, now that you know the date of the oath you can look into a passport appointment. In many parts of the country it's very hard to find available appointments. Just a heads up!

Completely agree! It's very difficult to search for an appointment on usps, in NYC there was nothing available till May when i tried. ANd make sure you call them and confirm. I arrived at my first appt., and they told me they don't do passports, it's a glitch in the appointments system. On my next attempt turned out they don't do pictures, I had to run to the closest walgreens (though my appt was with photo services)

Hello Everybody :) just an update. I got my interview yesterday and I did same day oath. I am in San Diego, California. I am so glad this is done! It went by pretty fast. I filed under the 5 year rule. The officer was talking really fast. I think my travel going there took longer than the actual interview. hahah there were only 8 people  waiting with me in the lobby before I was called. They also issued us the certificate there and since they did a biometric reuse, my picture on the certificate was my picture from 10 years ago. lol But it's ok... it didn't change much. hahah. Everything was so fast; after I got 6 questions correct, I was asked about my application took about 10 minutes. Then after she congratulated me, she told me to go upstairs as they were doing same day oath. There were only 4 of us in the room and then we were done. I asked her about passports and she told me I need to call them because Covid protocols might have changed again. It's ok since my son would need to have his passport renewed too. Anyway, I am so glad this is done:)

Hi flipilychee820 does San Diego ASC give you the naturalization certificate on the same day?

I filed April 16, 2020 and got my biometrics reviews in January 2021, and still no date for interview or completion. My location is Tampa. I’ve been in the US as a green card holder for 10 years but served in Iraq and Afghanistan under the US Army for seven out of those years.
it is absolutely frustrating to be waiting so long it’s been a year now
Today I checked my case and this is what is showing

You will notice that there are still March filers who are just getting their interviews.  It is all just taking a lot of time.  Processing times for Tampa state 11.5 - 14 months for N-400.  At least having your biometrics is a good sign, this means your case is progressing.  It is frustrating, but all any of us can do is wait.  Hopefully you will hear something soon.

Yes they do. After the Oath Ceremony, they immediately gave me my certificate, welcome packet and a passport application. Now, if you changed your name, I am not sure if you get your certificate right away, they might mail it to you, I am not sure about that though... :) Sorry ...

we travel back to our mother country once a year. It is impossible to remember the dates, but the total for 5 years outside us is below 150 days, so I think that should be fine with my case...

I think you'll be fine. They won't really quiz you on the exact dates. And if they ever ask you about a date. They might.... or  will  most likely ask you the most recent one.  My friend who was interviewed a couple of years ago, (but not in San Diego) said that she was only asked how many trips she's had and when was her most recent travel and where.. .  So don't sweat on the dates. In my case, I was only asked which was my longest trip and how many days. I just  printed my application so I am familiar with the questions. Hope this helps.:)

Hi good morning flipilychee820, sorry for bothering you again. Does your interview officer ask you to explain the meaning of words in Yes/No questions, for example, explain what "totalitarian" is?

They have the parking in front of the building but costs 15$ for 2h. I believe if you do not have name changed, you can take the certificate right away. ( my friend took her certificate right away after interview 2 days ago). For my case, i need to wait for the judge’s signature

Hi SanDiego91, a quick question for you. Were you asked to write on a tablet (ipad) for the writing test?

Also you said they did not ask you to explain the meaning of Yes/no question from N400 section 12 right?

Hello!:) I don't think I was asked the meaning of the words in Part 12.  But I think I know why you are asking,  I also thought that the Part 12 words are going to be asked because I saw a video on Youtube, about them being asked about the meaningof those words like, totalitarian, genocide, paramilitary,  guerrilla etc. but Like I said, I think I overprepared and I sort of memorized them. hahah :)) but  I was not asked at all, as far as I remember. I think for part 12 she only asked me if I ever claimed to be a US citizen, voted in a federal office and do I owe any taxes. But I don't remember being asked about the part 12 words... I don't know with the other VJ members though.

Also, yes there is an ipad where you will do the reading and writing test. They have a pen  you can use to write on the ipad there and hand sanitizer. There is also parking near the building, right across the  street. We parked on one for $13 for half a day. I think it was on 2nd avenue. My husband used an app called "parkwhiz". When is your interview if you don't mind me asking?

I know they would give you the application for passport after the interview. Would you be able to submit the application to the office that day or you would need to mail the application?

Yes they gave me a passport application but she told me to call the Department of State because of Covid, they require an appointment.  I don't know if it has changed again. For the passport, you would still need to mail that and they require the original Naturalization Certificate.  So, I am applying at USPS since my whole family needs to have all of our passports renewed anyway.  You can apply for an expedited one if you are travelling in a month or so. Here is their website for more info https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports.html/.
