Yikes!! Travel Ban Between PHI and South Korea.

My wife is currently in the Philippines visiting family and is scheduled to return to the U.S on 07 March. She has a five hour layover along the way and it just happens to be in Inchon, S. Korea. 

Can anybody confirm whether or not travel bans apply to transient flyers as well? In the articles I've read, the ban covers tourists with some exceptions for students studying in SK, but nothing that clarifies those just passing through.

The article refers to tourists, OFWs and  permanent residents.  And the travel ban by the Philippines wouldn't really relate to her as she is heading to the USA.  Now if the USA has a travel ban regarding S. Korea that would be of more importances.

I would think the best thing to do is reroute your flight thru Japan and avoid S. Korea all together.

Personally, I think there could be further travel restrictions issued within the next week.  I suspect all flights from SK would likely be of concern.  But I am just speculating.........what about Taiwan as a connection?   I know there are usually daily flights from Taipei to San Francisco and Houston....

Rebook her flight to go thru Japan and she should have no problems.  Hopefully.

If it applied then flights would be cancelled in there entirety

Philippines doesn't care if she travels through S. Korea when she is traveling to the USA ... they would care if she were a tourist and returning to the Philippines.     The USA might care.

If the layover at Incheon S.Korea, it will not be a problem. My spouse just get back from a trip oversea from Vietnam-Incheon-DFW. She told me there nothing CBP asked her. CBP only asked if my spouse ever travel to Wuhan or not.

When (not if) the WHO declares this to be a pandemic, then we might see additional travel restrictions from SK......

That is what I was going to say.  We got lucky and booked EVA for my step son instead of Cathay Pacific.  Now Japan and Taiwan may both be in the crosshairs of potential travel bans.  They are good now but my step daughter wants to go back during summer break and I'm not sure that will be easy in June.

Yep.  This situation is just too unpredictable right now.......Where is his POE for the EVA flight?  O'hare?

Yes.  Chicago/Taipei/Manila  That is what my stepson did.
