Another Manitoban here.. I just received my K1. I had to do two separate trips for health and interview, at least the doctor was nice. Did mine at Health1st Medical Centre in Vaughan, ON.

Nice to see another of my kind here. Do they mail out the results from Vaughan or did you have to stay and pick them up after they had the results? I know that Montreal will not mail out the results and you must pick them up, therefore I will either have to fly out twice to Montreal or stay there for a week.

Still we rise, here and now

I flew back to Winnipeg immediately after the appointment, about a week (maybe 10 days) later the packet showed up on my doorstep! I had to pay an extra $30 for the courier fee. It takes about a week for them to actually process the results so staying in the Toronto area was unfeasible for me. The appointment was pretty quick, I was in and out of the clinic in an hour (three separate locations in the building though-- chest xray and blood work were in a different place in the same building).

Just a heads up, I was told that it would take "several days" for the medical results to be ready at Medisys/Horizon ... I did my medical on a Wednesday, flew home, and then received an email first thing Friday morning that they were ready for pickup. I've seen other people mention that theirs had been speedy as well, so you may not be in Montreal for an overly long time if you choose to stay!

I like to plan for the worst though. I'd like to bank on it being longer than expected rather than not having the results ready in time for the interview and having to reschedule that if that makes sense

No, I get it, I'd do the same thing. Just wanted to let you know that the process is often quicker than expected.

No worries, I do what I can to help. My cost was actually mentioned on the previous page ... $475.63, with everything already up to date and no extra vaccinations needed. :(

I paid by credit card, but I'm sure you could use debit as well. Not so sure about cash, though.

So, I went to register the interview appointment online, paid the fee and then realised that I can only book one month in advance, when I need a least two months to save up some more funds for the trip. After paying, can I wait to book the interview closer to the month I want or do I need to call? (I have phone anxiety)

You need to book the interview before you noa2 expires (4 months from approval.) You can always cancel and rebook but montreal may not auto renew the noa2 without an interview booked.

Also have you and your fiance saved for the AOS? The trip to montreal and entering the USA is not the end of your journey by any stretch.

So, I got an email back.

And they said... "We encourage applicants to pursue their K-1 visa applications as soon as possible, since the validity of the I-129F petition is only 4 months. Although consular officers have the authority to revalidate the I-129F petition for another 4 months, they are not legally required to do so for every case. These decisions are rendered on an individual case basis at the time of the interview."

So... I booked. Less time then I wanted and honestly... one day after the 4 month mark. I'm HOPING that's fine. We paid a day before he 4 month mark too. Man, I'm cutting this way too close.... My high anxiety was making this whole thing a massive challenge. I'm so glad I found this website full of lovely helpful people.

Now onto booking the medial....

That's fine. Montreal works so slowly that the majority of people who interview have their petitions "expired" prior to their interview. However, as long as you're still active in the process (interview booked, fees paid, etc.), it's not an issue. I worried about mine too (mine was set to expire a week before my interview date), but it wasn't even mentioned once I got up there.

I received packet 4, where I have to make appointment for medical and interview. My issue is, there's only 5 approved physicians listed(on the gov website) for ALL OF CANADA, and the closest one to me is all the way in Surrey BC, while I'm in Alberta. And the interview is all the way in Montreal.... Is there anything closer that I'm missing? Is there anything I can do to make this easier? Or do I just have to travel across the country...?

Also, for the medical, what kind of cost am I looking at?

I was in Berta...I elected to do my medical in Surrey vs. spending additional days in Montreal. I booked the cheapest flight I could on Swoop, rented a car, drove to Surrey, had my medical and flew back that night.

The fee in Surrey is $350.

I'm seeing dozens of panel physicians in Ontario on the Canadian Government website. How come you are only seeing 5? Am I looking in the wrong spot? https://secure.cic.gc.ca/pp-md/pp-list.aspx
