Rescheduling Biometrics, Am I too late!?

We got a letter in the mail for our biometrics appointment today. The appointment is on 12/23/2019, which at a weeks notice is impossible for us to make as we're out of town for the holidays. We need to reschedule. Unfortunately, it requires that I reschedule via mail, but I feared it won't reach the address provided in time.

I called the number on the i-797C and the man told me that since there is a record of my calling and since they will get the letter likely within the week, even if it's after the event that it won't be an issue.

Has anyone else experienced this? I still worry that it will be considered an abandoned application!

I am aware of a number of people missing biometric appointments and walking in after the fact and being taken care of with no problem. They didn't reschedule, they just showed up on a later date.

You can also try dropping in your Center today or tomorrow if it isn't some long distance from you. Tell them you are leaving town and wanted to try to do it early.  It is all dependent on how nice the people are whether they will accommodate you. I walked in to three appointments early without a good reason and was taken.

If you are travelling to a US city with an ASC handy to your location, you could also try a walk-in at that center but you will need your letter with the bar codes for them to scan.

I would suggest getting to the location as soon as possible and doing your biometrics early.
