Non-Immigrant Application Received to Administrative Processing, is it normal?

As of today, our case in the Non-Immigrant unit changed from Application Received to Administrative Processing. Is it normal for this to happen? How fast is this part and is there a guarantee that the visa will be made? We are worried that it would overlap on plans of my fiancé coming this Christmas.

Supposed to be normal I guess. As far as I know everybody goes trough AP. I was max a day in AP if I remember correctly, but sure remember seeing it on ceac.

The question is how the interview went? Did your fiancé received any paperwork indicating missing documents etc? Since I am not familiar with Kyrgyzstan maybe somebody can chime in?

The interview was good, she got a 221(G) - white sheet missing my cosponsor’s 1040 and W2. We acted fast on the missing document by turning it in on the following week after the interview.

Oh I see. So it is not a surprise then. Your AP is pretty normal, but depending how fast the consulate is you might be in AP for a while. Maybe would not bet on a Christmas plan yet.

One of the general rules of this forum is to not make any plans/reservations (i.e., travel, wedding, etc.) of any kind, unless it can be changed/cancelled/refunded. It is highly advisable to not make any such plans until the visa is in your passport, and the passport is in your hand. B-)

Administrative processing (AP) has no set time limit, it will be finished when they are finished with their work on your case.

Good luck on your immigration journey.
