I had been preparing for the interview for a few days prior and so had worked myself up into a bit of a frenzy but I so did not have to worry.

After the initial shock of how much parking was (my advice is to take the train in as its something like $13.00 for one hour! :o ) we arrived at about 12.30 for our 1pm interview.

After about 15 minutes we were called and taken into the office at which time my husband and I had to "swear to tell the truth" etc, and she took our id's.

The lady went through our file and as she was doing so started to ask me the usual, have you been deported, belong to any organisation etc questions. She then asked when we got married and started to explain that i would have the 2 year conditional status of which i will have to removed conditions within 90 days of that expiring.

She asked both of us the standard, "Is this your first marriage, do you have any children etc" I told her we were expecting our first child in October (and to be honest looking at me I cant hide it lol)

This is where it got weird, she talked to my husband more than she did me, asking him if he had met my family, When and how we met, all about his job (he works for the government too so she was generally interested in his line of work) and just generally aimed the questions more at him. She finally asked me if i had met his parents and that was it in terms of questions relating to our relationship.

She then asked if I had left the country since entering and I said yes at which point she asked me where my advance parol was. I knew I did not need it as I am K3 and my visa is multiple entry of which i explained and she then had to phone someone to check as she said she was not sure about that. The lady on the other end of the line obviously said what I had just told her and then she said "yes thats what i thought but i just wanted to check!". I thought it was pretty funny as it seemed I knew more about how K3 worked then she did.

She asked for NO evidence, even though i had bought a folder of things including evidence of our relationship, copies of everything etc. I really got the sense that her mind was elsewhere and it was almost like she couldnt be bothered other than getting us out the door. One of her girlfriends called during this time and she started to chat but then said she was in a interview and would call her back!!!!!!

At this point she told us we were approved and then explained she had updated our status to say that my card was in production and i should recieve it in about a week. She told me it was upto us to remove the conditions in 2 years time but they do send out a reminder. My husband asked at this point if we would be coming back to the same office for that and she told us it was more than likely we would not have to attend another interview, especially considering we would have a child by then. She did say however the computer picks people at random so its a small chance we would be asked to go back for a interview............... And that was it!

We were in and out within a hour! All the effort etc we had gone to, to get evidence etc was for nothing. This whole process has been pretty easy for us, we have had no RFE's nothing and im now wondering if the fact my husband works for the government has something to do with it.

I just want to say to everyone still going through this, hang in there. I know how straining it is but eventually its all worth it and also a big thank you to everyone who answered my silly questions.

See you in 2 years

Congratulations on both the green card and the baby. One point you might want to keep on top of . . . from my understanding they do NOT send out a reminder that you need to file to remove the conditions, so when you do get your green card, try to get a calendar that includes the next two years then write down in your calendars the date your green card expires, then the 90 days prior - the earliest date you are allowed to file to remove conditions. Don't rely on them to remind you. :-)

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
