You wound me. As I've said before, I'm giving you my unbiased take on what you have posted. It is precisely my "uninformed opinion" that should be of value to you, because I obviously have no personal investment in the relationship some random woman on the internet engages in. I don't want you to think I meant to hurt you -- but I did feel hurt. Alex has a temper, I know that well, but we have worked very hard on communicating well without having to resort to shouting or stomping out of rooms. We don't get to the point where anything loud happens. And when it comes to me, he is very patient. (Frankly I think he has to be, I'm not the easiest sometimes.)

 

We just had a very trying bathtime with his daughter, who knows we have to bring her home to her mother tomorrow and doesn't want her daddy to leave. It was emotionally exhausting for me, and I was close to losing my temper myself because he was just letting her cry it out. But despite all the screaming and tears he just stayed calm and steady, and talked her through it. He's a great dad, and is up there in her room with her right now, reading her to sleep. I don't know how he does it. I sometimes feel very selfish keeping him in California. 

 

Thanks to those who gave me some good advice the other week about step-parenting, including @ALFKAD and @Steeleballz and I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. This has been a lot of fun and exhausting and I'm starting to think maybe I don't hate babies after all.
