My USCIS account is showing 1 day left to schedule my interview. I don't think that is true though. I think if I am lucky enough, they will schedule my interview sometime in mid December and the interview will be in mid January.

The immigration process caused me PTSD.

Folks, sharing in case it is useful to someone else.

2019-OCT-03: submitted application online

2019-OCT-03: status change to "We received your application"

2019-OCT-04: Receipt Notice letter becomes available under "Documents"

2019-OCT-05: status change to "We scheduled your biometrics appointment"

2019-OCT-06: Biometrics appointment letter becomes available under "Documents". Appointment scheduled for 10/25 at 08:00 AM on ASC Morrisville, NC

2019-OCT-25: attend Biometrics appointment at ASC (no early walk-in). About 20 mins including wait.

2019-OCT-25: status change to "We reviewed your biometrics"

2019-OCT-28: status change to "We scheduled your interview"

2019-OCT-29: Interview letter becomes available under "Documents". Interview scheduled for 12/02 at 01:00 PM at USCIS Raleigh, NC office

2019-DEC-02: go for Interview appointment at USCIS Raleigh field office

2019-DEC-02: status change to "You attended your interview"

2019-DEC-02: status change to "We approved your application"

2019-DEC-02: status change to "We scheduled your naturalization ceremony"

2019-DEC-04: Oath ceremony letter becomes available under "Documents". Oath ceremony scheduled for 12/20 at 08:30 AM at USCIS Raleigh, NC office

During the whole process, the "Estimated completion time" kept changing - started with "February 2020", then to "January 2020", then back to "February 2020". Right now, after the oath ceremony has already been scheduled, it shows "February 2020" as ETA.

Interview experience:

Showed up @ office 30 mins earlier. Went through security, metal detector. About 20/25 people in total. At 12:45 PM they started checking people in. I didn't notice it at the time, but it became apparent later - two sets of numbers/positions were being handed out when you checked in. Some were "Dxx" (xx being the number), some "Pxx". No clue why - maybe "D" is for "dependent/derivative" and "P" for "Primary applicant" ? No clue.

Took elevator to 2nd floor, sat down at waiting area. Read a book while they were  calling other people. Waited for about 15 minutes before being called. Was interviewed by a nice lady. Was put under oath, sat down. Was asked to provide the interview appointment letter, green card, driver's license, and all passports. Then fingerprints scanned (only index finger of each hand), picture taken. Got asked the civics questions - six and done. Was then asked to write a sentence. During whole time, talking to USCIS agent, I guess that was the part of "English language speaking".

Went over N-400. I had disclosed a speeding ticket from a couple years ago - I was asked for specifics of why and when (had provided already certified driving record). Based on that, officer told me she was changing my answers to "have you ever been charged with committing a crime" and "have you ever been convicted of a crime or offense" from NO (which I had marked) to YES. As an aside - I did check the USCIS manual and she was correct - being charged and having to pay a fine for speeding is equal to "being convicted" for USCIS purposes.

We then went over *each and every one* of the questions on section 12 - she asked each question from me again, and made sure my answers matched what she had on screen on the computer. She found funny I had declared to being member of AAA (the automobile association) and Costco - nothing wrong, just funny. Asked again if I had ever belonged to any totalitarian/communist/fascist party or similar. Reviewed passport (latest one) to verify my entries/exits in last five years matched what I had on the N400.

She then made me review on an iPad the changes to my N400 (see above - speeding ticket), reviewed the Oath of allegiance, and then told me "I am recommending your application for approval". She then printed a form N-562, which she told me "this is for your records". She kept the USCIS appointment letter - "this will be added to your file". She then told me "You will get a letter for the oath of allegiance appointment within a couple of months. Please remember YOU ARE NOT YET A CITIZEN - you need to go through the naturalization ceremony yet".

I honestly left a bit confused and scared - from reading other experiences here, I was expected to be told on the spot something along the lines of "Congratulations, you are approved", instead of being told "I am recommending your application for approval". I kept thinking if the whole "convicted" would somehow come to bite me in the rear end, due to the speeding ticket. Also, before I forget - whole interview took maybe 10 minutes or so. I was out of there by 01:30 PM.

My interview letter only said to bring with me the appointment letter, green card, passports, evidence of selective service registration. I also brought last five years of tax returns, birth certificates for my kids (all natural born US citizens), marriage certificate, marriage certificate translation, own birth certificate, other odds and ends. NONE OF THAT was requested - the closest I got to any of those documents been requested was when I was asked "you are paying all of your taxes and you don't owe any back taxes, correct?". That was it.

In any case, by about midnight all those updates were online, and today at 07:00 AM the oath letter was there under "Documents". So yeah, now waiting for December 20th.

So based on all the above:

a) processing time end to end IF we consider the oath ceremony - 79 days, or 2 months and 18 days (again, this includes the wait until 12/20 for the oath)

b) processing time end to end IF we stop at the "Oath scheduled letter" (means Dec 2nd) - 61 days or 2 months

FWIW (don't know if it made any difference) - been in the USA since 2003 with a work visa, became a resident in 2011 - did NOT apply immediately for naturalization (five years in 2016) but waited until now due to procrastination.

Hey, please don't ask me to update any Google spreadsheet or similar BS - for real, folks, just paying back all the information and advice I got from reading other people's experiences. Not interested on playing the "add to the spreadsheet" game.

It’s probably a little early yet for interviews notifications, although We may see some coming in this month.

Thanks. Wish you too.

Not interested on playing the "add to the spreadsheet" game.

congratulations.
