Congratulations. ! was also a Canadian F2B status Green Card recipient so i'm really excited for you.

In addition to the updated Tax & Financial Documents from your sponsor, you'll may want to get a new Police Clearance record from the RCMP. Two years ago when I had my interview, they were only good for.1 year so my document had expired by the time i had my interview. So you might want to get a new one just to be safe (That's what I did)

Hello Everyone,

Can you please add my information to the list for F2A waiting for interview at Montreal?

I have submitted a family visa sponsorship for my wife and we were just documentary qualified (DQ'd) today... Nov 4.

I am a recipient myself of a family sponsored visa (F2B) who received my Green Card in Dec 2019. (pre-pandemic)

Does anyone know what the options are if the beneficiary get's a job offer in the U.S. while we're in-line waiting for the interview date?

I briefly chatted with a lawyer and NVC and these are my guesses below.  Please feel free to correct if there are any issues:

  • Cannot get a J1 (is not a duel intent visa)
  • Cannot get a TN (it is only for specific jobs, and being a doctor that practices medicine is not one of them?)
  • Maybe can get an H1B (is a duel intent visa, but it also requires specific other rules -- in my wife's case for example, it means going beyond certification and completing all her step 3 exams)
  • Maybe the NVC can expedite if I provide them proof of a job offer?

FYI, as usual, no updates from Montreal in any capacity for our case.

Thanks for your update @rachel6992 :)

You can try asking the company which offered the job- they must be willing to apply for a visa (L1, O1?). Also, you can apply for any visa- the only thing is to give a truthful and honest declaration in your application that you have an immigration intent. You can try expediting with Montreal (no harm in trying).
