Hi,

 

So for a few weeks now, this has been sitting by a mailbox in a condo I pass by.. I know what this envelope looks like as I have gone through the I-130 process and there might be a chance this is important for the person to receive it. How can I help to find this person? I don't know if it should be opened and call USCIS, I don't even know who this person is in real.

 

I have read experiences where people have not received anything and that cost them either an interview, or requirements they needed to send etc.. so I hoping this letter reaches the person.

Drop it in the mail marked 'return to sender'. Then USCIS will use other means to contact that person (email or phone).

 

Also, it would be great if you modified picture to block the street address? Just thinking of personal privacy for this individual.

If there is an apartment manager, you could ask them. Otherwise, I personally would write "Return to Sender" and drop it in the next mailbox. It would probably be better for USCIS to have the notice back, instead of it sitting out there for anyone to grab it and get personal information (think A# etc.) off it.

I would also make sure to cross out  the barcode at the bottom of the envelope. Otherwise sometimes it will be scanned right back to you due to the automated system, regardless of just the “return to sender” notice.

Update: contacted our apartment manager and she was able to relay the message to the owner of the mail and they got it.
