I just received my appointment letter for my citizenship interview.

I'm wondering why they are asking me for EVIDENCE OF SELECTIVE SERVICE REGISTRATION??  DOES ANYONE KNOW WHY?

THANK YOU

Because evidently you fit the parameters for the requirement to register with selective service.

How old were you when you became a resident?

But why they sent me that letter asking for it?

Because it’s a generic letter. Mine had the same and my interview was today.

It says “any evidence of selective service registration” - you don’t have any evidence of selective service registration, as you were not within the age range

Are you man or a woman?

How old are you?

How was your interview?

I was 28 when I became a resident and am male.  Only need to register for selective service if you were a resident between 18-26.

Interview was a breeze 👍🏻

I am still waiting for interview date and I became permanent resident when I was 30. Few weeks ago I checked on the selective service website just for the heck to see if i was really registered and it happened that I was even before I came to the US. Not sure who did but I print out the verification just in case. Google selective service and verify if you were registered. Good luck on your interview!

Similar situation. I was "somehow" registered for selective service when I was on non-immigrant visa at age 24 (most likely because of applying for driving license). I became permanent resident at 34. I've my citizenship interview on Monday. I am just going to take selective service confirmation letter which I got from their website and explain the situation to IO and hoping it won't be an issue.

If one is more than 31 years old when applying for citizenship, no need of anything even if one was required to register previously. So don’t worry.
