You don’t want them to pay you money. You want them to find the documents for you. It’s just lost, not destroyed. It’s the matter of just getting someone cares enough to find it. What I would do is get on the phone with Fedex and try to escalate to a supervisor or something, tell them your story, that you fiance need those documents for a visa interview. Hopefully they can find it.

For what it's worth, FedEx "lost" my son's DNA sample from Indonesia to the US. It finally turned up two weeks later because it was mis-sorted and was sitting in a FedEx warehouse.

As USS_Voyager said above, it has to be somewhere and not destroyed. Keep calling FedEx until they find it

The only money you will get from them is the cost of what you paid for the shipment.

It depends on whether you paid insurance on it or not . When I mail something I usually pay to have it insured for the value of items in the envelope.  This way they keep it safe

The value of your documents is nothing.  So that's a dead end.  At best you can get your cost of shipping back.

Most likely the package fell off the sorter and is laying somewhere.  When maintenance does work in that area they might put the fallen packages back on the belt, or in the garbage.

Packages are scanned every time they move from A to B (like off the truck to the sorter, then on the sorter, then when on the truck) so they know exactly where the last scan was taken.  Ask them for that.  If they say they don't know they are lying.

Start getting certified copies if you can.  You should have copies, send the scanned images.  If the IO wants originals, then let them 221(g) you for them.   They may accept your copy if you can give them a tacking number and receipt of mailing and your case number with the shipper.

I have read over your P3 embassy interview instructions and what to bring. It is requiring only "copies" and not originals. Now at the interview the CO could ask for an original, but maybe by then you have received word from FEDEX that they have indeed found your package.

Here is what is in the P3 that I am referencing:

Birth/ Death /Marriage or Divorce certificates

-         Applicants must provide a copy of their Official bilingual Birth/Marriage/Death or Divorce certificates from the Civil Status Organization headquarters. please see https://cso.moi.gov.eg/ and https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Egypt.html
