Hello,

Any suggestions on a debit card I can get here to transfer my paypal funds to? I’ve only been here two weeks on a k1 visa so I’m not eligible to open a bank account yet. Also, will I be able to withdraw from my Metrobank (Philippine bank) debit card from the atm machines here? It’s a Mastercard so I should be able to use swipe that, right? Tia!

Why can't you get a bank account? Why can't your petitioner add you to his account whereby you can get a debit card? Have you gotten your social security card number ye to use to open a bank account?

Why are you not eligible?  Who told you that?

Each bank makes their own rules on whom can open and they have their own guidelines.

Per the US Government, You don't need a SSN to open an account, just shop around for banks

As others have already posted - go get your SSN, easy to acquire from SSA, if you don't wait too long ..

You may be able to use your ATM card, but expect a fee (foreign transaction fee at a minimum)

There is an app and I think visa card that you can use to transfer money back and forth and to friends. It can be used as an ATM card as well as a Visa for shopping. There are no fees for ATM use here in the States but I am not sure what the fees are to transfer money from say the PI.
