Did not disclose extended relative in previous interview

Hi all, I am now F1 visa holder. I am planning to get H1B visa stamp in my home country. However, for past F1 visa interviews, I did not disclose that I have extended relatives in the US. Later, my brother and my mom came to the US and filed in their visa application that they had extended relatives in the application. If I am honest about this in the next H1B stamping at my home country, will it cause a life ban for applying any visa for me ?

If you lied then it's misrepresentation. I'm not sure it would be material misrepresentation (which would lead to a lifetime bar from the US), but ultimately that would be up to the consular officer.

 

No one here will advise you to lie to USCIS or the embassy.

How it would be handled is pretty much up to the CO.  Perhaps whatever reasoning you had behind not disclosing it on the application would be discussed...if it was to purposefully evade giving that information to get a visa approval, may not be in your favor.

 

What was the reason you never disclosed it before?

Since I heard that having any relatives in the US hurts my chance of getting F1 visa. Now I know that it is not true at all and I come to the US and finish my study which is the same as the purpose of f1 visa

Seems to be 2 issues, lying on the F Application and any potential bans.

 

Credibility on the H1b as you have lied in the past they may wonder what else you are lying about.
