I searched around on this forum a good bit for help with the cover letter to go with my husband's AOS packet, and also to verify that I have not left anything out. Some of the threads I got information from were a couple of years old, so I am pasting my cover letter here with personal info removed for others that might also need help AND to get feedback from members here just in case anything is missing or wrong etc. Thanks!

Looks like what I'm about to send in, except you have the I-131 down 2 times I'm assuming the second one was meant to be I-765? :)

wish I had this when I was getting all my stuff together LOL!

Looks perfect. Mine was very similar to yours. :)  I had submitted one main cover-letter for the package and then three other letters for each form.

I agree with submitting four separate cover letters. One for each form. One for i485 and one for i864 because the i485 cover letter should be written from the perspective of the applicant/petitioner meaning the Immigrant and signed by them while the i864 cover letter should be written from the perspective of the US citizen spouse sponsor and signed by them. The AOS package will get separated upon arrival and you will want to show the individual adjudicator working on your separate forms the contents of that individual packet.

Thanks for pointing that out, I've fixed it on my cover letter.

We had a very similar cover letter! We also only submitted 1 cover letter for the whole packet and it seemed to be just fine! :)

thank you for posting this.

Is a copy of petitioners birth certificate needed for the i-864?

And additional copies of passport, k1 visa, i-94, 129 approval letter and marriage certificate for all three applications? Haven't come across this anywhere, was under the impression only one copy of each would be needed.

For the I-864, the Petitioner/sponsor has to send proof of U.S. Citizenship which can be a copy of their certificate or copy of their passport.

For the I-131 and I-765, you do need to send copies of biographical passport page + K1 visa (first to show identification and 2nd to show current status in the country). Copies of marriage certificate and I-797 isn't required for those forms but I've seen some people recommend it and figured it couldn't hurt. These forms will get separated so you do need to send separate copies of whatever supporting documents you choose to provide.

I'd recommend three of everything.

I received an RFIE for both I765 and I131 because they lost my 2 MC photocopies after I had sent three. That's how i know you need three of everything for each form.

Experiences like this are exactly why I am sending copies with every form.

On the official instructions (page 6), it says:

Item Numbers 11.a. - 11.c. Citizenship or Residency. You must provide proof that you are a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident for joint and substitute sponsors and for relatives of employment-based immigrants who file Form I-864. Petitioning relatives who have already filed proof of their citizenship or immigration status with Form I-129F, Form I-130, Form I-600, or Form I-600A do not need to submit proof of their status with this affidavit.
