Embassy Review : Hi all,

My fiancé had his interview at the embassy today and I was able to join (note- If you are the US fiancé, make sure to bring your passport to be able to get into the embassy).

His appointment was at 10:30am and we arrived around 9:45. We weren't expecting to be let in but they checked us in and we were told to go through security and into the building to line up. We waited in a line with other visa applicants for probably about 20 or 25 minutes which really wasn't too bad. They they pulled K-1 visa applicants out of the line, checked us in and gave us our number. We were told to go up to the first floor and go to the last 5 windows. We sat in the area around the corner from the regular visa sections and it was all K visa applicants. We met a lovely couple who were also waiting and another man who was waiting as well. We probably sat down for about 5 minutes when fiancé was called up to the first window to hand all of his paperwork in.

After that, we sat down for another 5 minutes and fiancé was called up for his interview!

The kind lady behind the window asked him one question:
-How did you guys meet?

And then the lady asked for our updated letters of intent and said the visa would be here in 1 - 2 weeks!!!! javascript:emoticon('')

After so much waiting and stress, this was the most stress-free part of the entire journey so far! javascript:emoticon('')

Embassy Review : Our appointment was scheduled for 9 am but we arrived about 30 minutes before. It took us about 10 min to get through security because it's basically airport style and we had to take off our shoes. We went upstairs to the waiting area where there was about 20 other people waiting and we waited about 20 minutes to be called. At this point, I was pretty nervous because some of the officers we saw looked pretty stern and we saw a few people come out of rooms crying (not happy crying).

We got called in exactly at 9 am on the dot by a young officer who was dressed exactly like my husband! We went into the room and he had us stand to say the oath. Once we sat down, he was super chilled out and asked us for passports, my husbands UK birth certificate and our marriage certificate. He also asked us how we met! And that is literally all he asked for during the entire interview! The whole interview was much more of a conversation than anything! I came extremely over prepared with 3 folders full of evidence and copies and everything we have ever mailed to USCIS. But we didn't show him any of it. I'm assuming they feel they had enough info on us already 🤷‍♀️ I asked him if he wanted to see and keep a few of our wedding photos, which he did. He went through the i-485 questions but only a few and that was pretty much it! He said, "I'm going to approve you for the green card. Congratulations!" He walked us out and we were done! 10 minutes total! By dinner time, we got a notification that the card is being produced.

I know we had an extremely easy interview compared to some people and I'm honestly shocked by that. I walked in excited but pretty nervous! Husband was cool as a cucumber! 😂

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
