I am also applying for my step daughter and it has been one CRAZY journey. I started the application back in 2016. USCIS processed it incorrectly (they entered the info as if i was filing for my husband who is already a permanent resident instead of my step daughter who I was actually filing for. My application was denied and i had to pay another $115 to appeal it and submit proof that it was an administrative error on their end. They finally approved it 2/14/2018. It was basically stuck there for over a year. I submitted multiple inquiries and always the same response "It is processing to be transferred to NVC". So March 2019 I decided to contact my congressman who reached out and was advised it was pending background checks. I am a citizen so my background comes back quickly and my step daughter is 7 so she has no background. My congressman reached out again demanding more answers and they finally said they will forward it to NVC by 5/10/19, and they actually did it. I received my notice from NVC to pay my AOS fee 6/4 and I did it same day. it took 2 days to process and I was able to submit my AOS docs... i also paid my IV fee so after my documents were done being reviewed i could go to the next step without waiting for "Fee processing"

my question is- after i submit civil documents what is the usual turn around time for NVC to schedule an interview.

Also how do they interview a 7 year old?????

any info would be appreciated!!!

She is juat 7 so she will be accompanied to the embassy with a trusted adult. She will be taken to the interview window and simple kids' questions will be asked such as "what's your name? How old are you? Where's your daddy? Will you mind going to live with daddy? What'a your stepmom's name? In what grade are you? Etc just random pleasant questions which can be asked to any kid her age.
