Can I travel with EAD card AFTER Green Card has been approved?

Hi everybody! So it looks like I have ran into a bit of a nightmare, green card getting lost in mail while tracking says it was delivered in mailbox. I’m still hoping that it’ll turn out somewhere since it’s only been a couple of days and i’m trying to work on it with usps.

Im planning a trip to Europe in August, I know I could get the i-551 stamp to my passport but do I need to have the replacement filed in before I could get the stamp? I just want to wait a bit with the $550 fee in hopes of somehow getting my green card soon.

Also my EAD card expires in September, would I be able to travel with this even though my green card has been issued?

Thanks!

The short answer is no. After GC approval the EAD and AP are no longer valid. You need the stamp or GC sorry.

The airline will accept the EAD/AP combo card for US-bound travel. All AP travelers go into secondary inspection at POE anyways. IMO, CBP will see you are an LPR and admit you as an LPR.

^Option #2 above is similar

I would not advise traveling that way. It’s one thing GC getting approved while traveling abroad on AP but traveling on AP while the person is in the US when USCIS already issued the GC not only approved is a completely different story.

Thank you for the answers, definitely a little bit confusing, confusing situation also.. but does anyone have an idea about getting the i-551 stamp without filing the replacement card? Of course my field office Orlando doesn’t even do Infopasses..  they have some other ways I guess.

They have to do infopasses, you just likely can't book them online and need to call.
