How to bring family over for k1 wedding.

Hello everyone,

 

I'm in the process of doing k1 visa. We are currently waiting for her to finish treatment for tb and am slowly starting to plan our wedding. I'm wondering what are the possibilities of having her family from Vietnam being able to attend the wedding? A little concerned because her family does not have that much money and I would be paying for their trip to the wedding along with boarding and stuff. Would it be better off to just go back to Vietnam after she gets her green card to do a wedding for her family?

Only options are a tourist visa for the family... this is not a new issue...

 

Best option is, get the K-1, her come to the US, you both marry... file for AOS, then once she gets her EAD/AP combo (work permit and advanced parole) you can both travel back to her home country and do a ceremony there for the family.

02/03/2017 - Married 

02/24/2017 - AOS packet sent

06/01/2017 - EAD/AP Combo Card Received in mail

12/06/2017 - I-485 Approved

12/14/2017 - Green Card Received in mail - No Interview

I-130 filed: February 5, 2016

NOA1: February 8, 2016 Nebraska

NOA2: July 21, 2016

Interview: December 6, 2016 London

POE: December 19, 2016 Las Vegas

N-400 filed: September 30, 2019

Interview: March 22, 2021 Seattle

Oath: March 22, 2021 COVID-style same-day oath

 

Now a US citizen!

Either they apply for and get tourist visas - which is based on their individual merits, not anything to do with you - or you legally marry in the US and then have a celebration abroad later (after getting either AP or the green card).

Or get married in Vietnam and go the CR1 route.
