Waited to long to add spouse to health insurance

Hello everyone, I didnt know I had only 60 days to add spouse to my health insurance, now it's to late and I have to wait until open enrollment in November. We have our aos interview scheduled already, my question is will it affect us at the interview? He is added to my credit card & beneficiary on life insurance & bank account..

Shouldn't. Putting aside the argument that everyone should have health insurance because healthcare is so expensive in the US, you are no longer required by law to have insurance. Not everyone can afford the outrageous premiums.

For the sake of the safety of your spouse, you should look into getting travel insurance for your husband. There are some that have special insurance for people waiting for Green Cards.

Health insurance can be purchased privately, by not using the exchange. You can purchase from any insurer available in the state... for instance, like BCBS (florida blue). Not cheap of course, but you can cancel at any time and use an option that works better for you during open enrollment.

It will have no effect on the AOS.  

 

The fiance travel insurance plans are ok but ultimately for serious illness they cover evacuation.  Not ideal if he doesn’t have ap.
