I have filed for the IR-1/CR-1 visa for my husband. I just received the text that they have received my petition, so we are still waiting on the NOA1. My husband and I would like for him to apply for a tourist visa so he can come visit while we are waiting. Does anyone have any words of wisdom on whether or not this would be a good step for my husband and I to pursue? I do not want to do anything that would jeopardize his IR-1/CR-1 visa. Thank you!!

A denied visitor visa will not affect the CR-1 visa.

Be aware that the US Embassy will believe that the true purpose is not tourism but to come live with you while waiting for his immigration visa.  For this reason, a visitor visa is usually denied because of a spousal petition.

You just lose the application fee.

Thank you for your response. We plan to have him apply in Honduras while I am there visiting him in the summer. our hope is that he can get a tourist visa which would allow him to come back with me, but only for the time he is permitted on the tourist visa.

I have been so busy researching the spousal visa, that I haven't even looked into the tourist visa and what it all requires. Does anyone know of a website or link that would be valuable resource for me to start looking into this process?

Very true, but I am hopeful he can get a tourist visa, and it would be worth the try.

Thank you!

Thank you!! My main concern is the CR-1 Visa, and I am happy to hear it won't affect that process.

All the information will be on the local Consulate web site, pretty simple process.
