The status that says "ready to be scheduled for an interview" doesn't really mean much time-wise. Many people are stuck with that status for many months and even years. So don't worry about not getting back to your state on time if you only have another month left of work over there. Once the status changes to "interview has been scheduled" you normally have another month before the actual interview date. I say "normally" because who knows what will happen during covid-19 with regards to interviews. Offices are set to open to the public on June 4, unless they change the date again.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying! Hopefully I don't sit at this stage for months, that would be terrible. I also just filled my N-400..  This whole process is so nerve-racking.

The "case ready to be scheduled for an interview" is the most common thing to happen after you file the N-400. That generally means that your i-751 was transferred and you likely will have a combo interview for both i-751 and N-400 at the same time. This often puts the i-751 on hold until they're ready to process and interview you for the N-400, which can be a very long it short wait depending on your local field office.

Thanks guys. Yes, I felt like my evidence was pretty detailed, too. So, I was surprised to get an RFE. Hopefully, it's just something small, like forgetting to sign a document - but I can't see myself forgetting that (I have a great attention to detail).

My NOA date is April 30.

@RandB, do you got the RFE letter yet? What was the RFE is for??

Received it yesterday. It seems like the main thing they were suspicious about was the fact that we don't have a joint checking account and that our savings account statements didn't have transactions for utilities. They said that our evidence didn't prove financial comingling (which I disagree with of course). We gotta figure it out somehow.

All the best. Hope , once they receive your response, they approve your case without any further delay. Apart from that joint account issue, is there anything else they requested??

To me it looked like you had other evidence of co-mingled finances instead. It's weird how they're so interested in joint checking accounts, it's very common for spouses to have separate accounts.

I have EAC 1990 number,  filed April 11 2019 biometrics sept. Transfer to Potomac January ending.  Still waiting,  nothing yet

We have EAC 1990-09x-xxx. Filed April 27, 2019, biometrics June 4, 2019, transferred to NBC on March 24, 2020. On May 13, 2020, the online status was changed to "interview ready to be scheduled." No paper letter from USCIS in the mail yet. Does a letter only get sent once the interview date is set? How long does that usually take? Any chatter about possible virtual interviews?

Although USCIS is slated to reopen field offices June 4, DC extended the stay-at-home order until June 8, so we don't anticipate hearing about an interview date for at least a month.....

That seems odd. As Scandi said below, many spouses these days keep separate accounts (my husband and I among them). Although we didn't receive an RFE, we do have to attend an interview for ROC. This wasn't entirely unexpected, as AOS was approved without interview.

We agree! We did include evidence of which of us pays which utilities, that my husband is the primary beneficiary for my life insurance, we are the primary beneficiary on each other's IRA investments, and a family cell phone plan we're on with my parents, though.

Correct, they don't send any letters when the status changes to "ready to be scheduled for an interview". Once it changes to "interview has been scheduled", that's when you'll receive the letter with the interview details.

How long of a wait you have until your interview gets scheduled depends on how fast your local field office is. Some are stuck with that status for only a few weeks while others wait for months and years. Some field offices are very fast and others are very backlogged. And now during the lockdown it's more or less impossible to say how this have affected interview wait times. We can probably be sure they'll be backlogged once they finally open again, but we don't know just how backlogged. 🙁
