Why do you want to write to your Congressperson?

 

I see no harm in doing so.

Hi Boiler,

 

Thanks for your reply. So, that something can be done to quicken the backlog processing. The thing is my daughter, and I are in the US. My husband is in India. His consular processing will start only when ours is processed. I thought being an EB1B applicant I will be able to hasten the process, and we can be together as a family. However, now EB1B for India seems to have been slowed down soooo much!

Well a Congressperson would the one who could start the process to change Immigration Laws so absolutely. I would contact the one who might be sympathetic to your cause.

 

Anyway this is more a campaign issue so will ask a Mod to move it to a more appropriate forum.

The issue is not a backlog here. It is limits on the number of visas available in that category per year. It's a quota issue, not a processing one.

Nothing a congressperson can do unless they change the INA.

Edit: But sure, feel free to ask them to support a change in legislation.

They can’t give you the greencard unless your PD is current, which has to be 22Feb2017 or earlier as of April 2019 visa bulletin. You still got a lot of wait time. No congressmen can do nothing unless the law itself is changed.

 

As said, it’s not because of the backlog, its the number of people from a country or region applying in that category. When you have tons of thousand of people from India applying for GC in that category and only a limited number is allocated per year, you have to wait for your turn.
