I also am easily drawn in by packaging for many microwbrews

I have to say I am the opposite. The more elaborate or "funny" the beer tries to be, the less likely I am to buy it. I much prefer a classic looking beer bottle, which is probably why I put this at the top of my list (other than it tastes great):

Here is an example of the kind of beer packaging that makes me never want to try the beer:

Really? It's not available anywhere else? :o

Not in the form you get it in the USA.

According to mr. beer dude...

My Question is: Hello Mr. Deer Dude-What are your thoughts on Bass Ale? I don't really know much about it and would like to hear what you think. Thanks!

Answer: Bass Ale is a lightly hoped pale ale with a soft, flowery, and nutty character. It's not overly aromatic or bitter. Bass Ale has been around for some time. The Bass Ale Red Triangle was the first registered trademark (1883) in England and possibly the world. Bass Ale is British-style pale ale and is brewed by one of the largest breweries in England, Bass Brewers Ltd., which was founded in 1777. The first recorded import of Bass Ale to America was in 1799. The US import version is slightly stronger in alcohol then its English counter part.

Is that what you meant?

Bass you get on tap in the UK (its just called Bass, not Bass Ale) is a totally different beer to Bass Ale in the USA, which is more of an IPA than a regular bitter. The reason for this is that British Beer does not travel, IPA is a super hopped up version of British Beer which is much more robust and travels much better, however it does not taste the same.

Perhaps they sell Bass IPA in the UK, and its close to Bass Ale in the USA, but regular Bass is totally different. That said, Bass is a substandard pint in the UK and the USA version I find just rank. IMHO of course.

:P Now you've got me curious to try Bass in the UK. Maybe my tastebuds are all screwy but over the years, I've always been impressed with it's flavor compared to other beers out there (certainly better IMO than Newcastle).

to make ya more curious, Guinness tastes muh better at the factory in Dublin where it's made as opposed to everywhere else.

There is a restaurant/microbrewery in Frankfurt that has some of the best beer and food, that I have ever tasted.

If you are ever there, stop by Waeldches, on Am Ginnheimer Waldchen 8, Frankfurt.

As you can tell I don't care for beer, but the Grolsch I can handle the smell and even stomach a sip.

The smell of beer always reminded me of my grandfather storing silage under big heavy tarps. This in turn makes me think of rotted corn.........and well I wanna throw!
