SSN Copy for I-751 Application

 Share

I submitted my SSN copy for I-751 application and recently realized that the SSN copy I submitted had the work restriction line on and it was from 2016.

In fact, I updated my SSN after I received my conditional GC and the work restriction line got removed in 2017.

My concerns are:

1. As far as I understand, SSN copy is NOT one of the required documents for I-751, am I correct?

2. Would USCIS see my SSN copy having the work restriction line any differently from the kind that without the work restriction line? Do they basically just need to know the SSN number and that's it?

3. Would USCIS RFE me because I submitted an out-of-date document?

Thank you!

ROC:

06/29/18 - ROC packet (I-751) sent

07/02/18 - USCIS CSC received date

07/11/18 - NOA (I-797) Notice date

07/16/18 - NOA (I-797) received

03/08/19 - Biometrics reused

06/04/19 - Case transferred to Potomac Service Center

10/09/19 - New Card Is Being Produced

10/10/19 - Case is approved

10/15/19 - Approval Notice received

10/17/19 - Green Card received 🐶

For number 3, I shouldn't have said "out-of-date". I meant to say "the most current". I think USCIS might be able to see I went to update my SSN card in 2017.

Have no idea why you would submit a copy of your SSN card.

And its its not out of date just because you didn’t updated it right away. The number is yours for life. Don’t think it will effect your case.

I agree with @Georgia16, I don’t think it will matter.  If you do end up having an interview, take your most current card without the DHS note in case there are any questions by the IO.

Good Luck!

Yep, SSN card has absolutely nothing to do with ROC.  You don't need to submit a copy, nor does it prove anything.  Don't lose sleep over that.

I tend to worry a bunch and provide too much information..

I totally understand the number is for life.. since i didn't know how USCIS would be using the SSN card, I freaked out about submitting the one that I had back in 2016 instead of the new one I got in 2017.

Since the SSN copy is not required, I would probably feel better about it.. Thank you!!

I have not seen anyone on this forum submitting a copy of their SSN card to AOS or ROC.

Actually, my wife did include a copy of the card in her I751 submission.  I don't know if it was required evidence back when she filed, but I doubt it.  When she filed we pretty much sent in copies of everything.
