I693 not asked for at interview

So we had our AOS interview yesterday and got approved ☺️☺️ but it said on our interview notice to bring a completed I693 medical which we bought to our interview still sealed,however the interviewing officer never even asked for it 🤔🤔 #Confused

Still sealed?! I don't have the sealed envelope I was sent with my visa - I gave it in at immigration and they never gave it back to me...... should i be worried?

It sounds like the OP went and conducted a second medical exam for the AOS.  A Civil Surgeon will provide the I693 in a sealed envelop. This is not usually required for an AOS from a K1 is the AOS is finished within 12 months or so from the K1 medical exam which appears to be the case here.

The OP wasted their money if they were a K1 originally.

It's important that K1s know that the US medical requirements do not apply to them because they have already fulfilled them overseas. 

The reason the OP received a request for an I693 is because their Overseas medical packet would not have been retrieved from their A-file until the day of their interview (ie no one even knows that the applicant has fulfilled the medical requirements until the DAY OF the interview when their previous overseas exam is pulled and reviewed). Any request for an I693 is a generic one and does not apply to K1s who already fulfilled the medical requirements abroad. 

K1s, please understand that all you need to do to fulfill the medical requirement in the US is:

 

1. Ensure your copy of the DS3025 Vaccination Record is marked complete and submit a photocopy of it with your I485.

2. Apply for AOS within one year of your medical date. 

 

That's all. That's it.

Any mention of requiring an I693 or needing to redo your medical should be disregarded. It does NOT apply to K1s if you followed the requirements as a K1 applying for AOS as stated above.

No, your overseas medical will be sent from your POE to USCIS to be stored in your A-file to be retrieved at your AOS interview. You will not need another medical if you fulfilled the requirements posted above.

Is this also the case when going into the AOS interview?  My wife's interview is at the end of Feb, and it states to get a medical physical from a civil surgeon with a filled out sealed i693 (unless already submitted).  She turned in overseas medical packet with her i485, but that was filled out in 2017 by her doctor in Taiwan.  i485 was received in Feb in 2018.  Do we still need to get the medical examination with i693?

Yes. It applies to you if you fulfilled everything I stated in my post. 

The i693 is not required because like you quoted have "already submitted". A K1 can ignore every mention, every notice, every threat regarding the I693 if they completed their medical requirements abroad and as outlined in my comment.

If you filed AOS within one year of the overseas medical date and your medical and vaccinations were complete, it doesn't matter when the interview takes place. You have fulfilled the medical requirement. Did you do that?

Her medical examinations and documents were stamped with a date of 10/2017.  We submitted them with her AOS packet in 01/2018 and they were received by USCIS 02/2018.  Interview is 02/27/2019.  

 

I've read online where some were given RFE and were told to get medical checks after their interviews when not submitting the i693.  Medical exams that were turned in with AOS packets were completed more than a year before their interview dates... She needs to go to Taiwan in March/April, so any delays during the interview process would need to be avoided...

Your timeline was within one year. 

Be careful how you interprete others experiences. 

For one, you cant get an RFE for a medical exam. Medical exams are not required to be filed with AOS applications. You can bring them to the interview.

Simply by you stating "Medical exams that were turned in with AOS packets" is a clue that they were not K1 AOS filers as K1 AOS filers do NOT  turn in medical packets with AOS applications. K1's have already submitted theirs at POE. 

 

It IS TRUE that the IO CAN give you a CHECKLIST AFTER the interview and request a medical exam to be redone. That is not an RFE though. And the reason for them doing that would be:

1. because they dont know the K1 Medical exam policy (which you can provide evidence from the USCIS policy manual showing them that K1s are exempt as they have already completed their medical requirement overseas).

2. USCIS lost your medical exam packet that was submitted at your POE.

3. The Panel Physician did not complete your DS3025 Vaccination Record properly.

4. The IO has concerns that you are ill. 

 

The stories you have been reading apply to non K1 AOS filers most likely as they WOULD need to submit an I693 to fulfill the medical requirement. Their I693 would indeed have only been valid for one year and if they submitted an I693 with their AOS application prior to Nov 1st, 2018 (whereafter it has changed to two years) and if it took longer than that to get an interview, their medical would be expired.

 

Read posts carefully and ask for Visa filing status that they were able to apply for AOS with. The notation "i693" does not apply to K1s who completed the medical and vaccination requirements abroad and filed for AOS within one year.

There are two types of AOS filers: K1s and everybody else.

K1s complete their medical and vaccinations overseas. Their medical packet is collected at POE and transferred to their A-file for safe keeping until their AOS interview. K1s then apply for AOS within one year of their medical date and submit a copy of their DS3025 Vaccination Record too. If they do all of that they have completed the medical requirements.

Everybody else has to comply with the medical requirement once they are in the US. They can complete an exam and submit the sealed I693 they receive from a US CS with their AOS application and hope to h_ll that they get interviewed within 2 years (used to be one prior to Nov 1st) 

OR

They can wait until they receive an interview, complete an exam then and submit the sealed I693 at their interview therefore there is no chance it is expired. 

 

The lines between the procedure for K1s and everybody else DO NOT CROSS provided the K1 completed the procedure I have mentioned above throughout my comments. 

Understand that as you read about others as you are including yourself in a group of filers that K1s are not included in.

Ah sorry, I think I got mixed up with what I heard and what I experienced.  So then after turning in her medical packet on her POE, another medical check or an i693 is not required?  We turned in my wife's medical packet that was completed by a physician in Taiwan around 10/2017.  The interview confirmation letter states "A completed medical examination (form i693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed envelope (unless already submitted)."  If the i693 is not required since she came to the US with a k1, will an updated vaccination report be needed in a sealed envelope?
